Hi my fellow booky geeks, owing to major computer problems Littlegrohl has asked me to step into the breach and post a poll for Novembers book!!.

I have gone over the origial thread and have taken on board what sort of books have been recommended so here goes with the pick of 5 books for us to vote on.
As we are in November now, and the nights are fair drawing in...how about just 1 week to vote then we go off and read?

I didn't either, so went into social group and voted, then came back and lo and behold, the poll is there without the book that I voted for! So, I've voted again!!!

Patience...patience.

I have tried to cover a few genres (hence time taken:irked:)

I felt a Town called Alice deserved a second chance, Relentless comes highly recommended and is a crime thriller, Birdsong is both romantic and tragic, The last secret of the Temple, is a good old romp sort of Da Vinci code meets Indiana Jones, and the Colour purple is just one of those books everyone should read, at least once.

Anyway, my booky geeks, vote away, and this time could we have a bit more discussion on the book once read, opinions good and bad, favourite characters, ones we loved to hate, and all of that, as that is what book club is about IMHO!!!

Poll closes in 7 days!

Thanks Izzi

I was disappointed that there werent many reviews on the last one in our book club too.

Off to read some reviews on these books before I do my vote.

Sorry Hippychick.....I honestly flipped a coin between A thousand splendid suns and a Town called Alice for one of last months to go back in.....wish I had seen your comment first might have made me use the double headed coin ;)

I'm afraid I didn't join in with the October book club simply because it took ages for the book to arrive in the library and then my husband commandeered it!

will definetly be in with this one, I love reading so I will give copious opinions I promise.

Thats OK - will let you off  Just wondered whether the lack of reviews were because no many read the book or some other reason. Sounds like most of the men ended up reading the books first though!

I didnt get a chance to read the book my library couldnt get it in time, I have voted for this months tho...x

What I love about this book club is that I would never have read a Martina Cole book, but had to for this.
I really 'hated' the book and all the characters in it, but it was good to see what other people thought, although I would have liked someone to try and convince me that I had maybe missed a reason to like the main characters, and read the follow up.

Again this month there are choices that I probably would never get around to reading if left to my own devices, and I can't wait to see what it will be.
Although it looks like the violent thriller is out in the lead already, just like last month
What does that say about us

As a little aside I think we should maybe miss reading a book in December (busy month workwise anyway) as we are late with Novembers anyway, but post the list of choices for Januarys read in mid December, so we can put January's book on our list for Santa to bring down our chimneys.

Chels better get back soon, I am going mad with the power here

I might just have to join now too, life seems to be calming down a little atm and ya never know I may just find the time.

Hi All,
My vote is in.
Lotsa luv x

I am now thinking should I buy the book now or wait incase the vote changes but then I may not be able to get the book in time :irked:

I would wait Lell....the poll will close on Saturday as I put it to close in 7 days. Also as it is a weekend loads of geeks won't have seen it yet to vote, apparently some of them 'have a life'

Also if we don't have a book to read for December then we have plenty time to read this months choice. Especially if we want a full and frank discussion of it!!!!

I've read Relentless, if it doesn't win the vote it's a book you definitely have to get/borrow :green:

I loved it and read it in record time... page turner extraordinaire :green:

Have voted. Will definitely try and make a huge effort to get this one read in double quick time. You guys were well into reviewing and discussing before I had even started.
Cheers.

Anyone else want to join us this month......nearly time for the poll to close (Satrurday) so get your votes in quick!!!

I would also like to take this opportunity to apologise for an error in the poll.
It has been pointed out to me that the first book in the poll is actually entitled "A town LIKE Alice" not a town called Alice . I have no excuse, although I think my enthusiasm and haste in trying to get the poll done asap caused this heinous error to occur. :o:

Is that enough grovelling Adele??????????

How spooky Izzi - I have just been to join the library and told myself when I came back I would bump this up for those that havent seen it!

Great mind hey

I didnt notice there error either.

Relentless it is then......get reading folks!!!!!!
