Hi there, I remember reading about this ages ago and know that you can "create" a nail using gel where no toenail exists. In this particular instance the nails 2 on each foot have fallen off through damage years ago so no infection to worry about.

However, I have only just got into doing gel nails again, now using Calgel, and this lady has offered her toes for me to practice on -some reminders would be great!

Thanks in advance! :)

I have lost my big toe nail through trauma (although it has started to grwo back now) and have sculpted one on (actually with acrylic but can be done with gel just as easily). I think emmsybabes has some pics of hers if you do a search hth xx

If there is no nail...on what do you sculpt it then?? if your skin is exposed and you use gel or l&p directly on it...isn,t this risky? Does it sit firmly stuck then?

I didn,t knew that this could be done...

what you can do is sculpt a toe nail using silk as your form...with the gel over the top...

no prep as no nail...just clean the skin

cut a piece of silk to size and lay onto where you want the nail to be....then use gel to build the nail up in thin layers (no thick layers as she may experience heat spike) file to shape and done...now this may not stay adhered for very long but i have a lady with no big toe nail at all and i made her nail this way that she uses when she goes out or wears open shoes...she uses nail glue to apply it and it wears off after a few baths...she then saves it and glues it on again when next needed.

What a brilliant idea (although it has made me feel faintly queasy!). A friend of mine has a missing toenail. Will see if she fancies having this done. Thanks hun.

Thanks for the advice - will look forward to seeing how it turns out!

Yes this would be better if there's absolutely no nail there. Mine has started to grow back and I have about 6mm of new nail so enough to sculpt out with a form xx

I take it you would just use gel and no resin activator then?
Thanks
