Hi Geeks,

Long time reader, first time poster.
I have a question about Gel Infills. I have covered gel and acrylic nails in my course, since I finished have only really worked with acrylic. I have a trial for a job tomorrow and I need to do a coloured gel infill. I would like to know if anyone can tell me if I
a) need to file off all the coloured gel before filling
b) do I need to apply bonder over the whole nail after I have filled it?

I appreciate your help

Tennille

hiya i have never worked with coloured gel before but would of thought you file it all off then if they want a different clour or white tips the old colour won't show through, and just apply the bonder to zone 3 of the nail the bit thats grown out on a infill.

hope this helps and good luck with the job interview! :)
xx

If you are replacing the coloured gel with another coloured gel that will cover without showing the origional colour through you need not remove it all, just reduce the thickness. I have done this in the past with no problems. If you are to use a colour such as yellow over black this may cause as issue as you may see black through the yellow.

When you have thinned the gel and prepped the new nail growth I only apply bonder to the natural nail area rather than the entire nail and overlay.

I am sure someone will have a better answer as I'm not a gel expert xxx

Thank you for your help

Everything went fine and I start on monday! I think I was just really nervous because it had been so long, but it was just like riding a bike.

Thanks again
