Hi everyone. Got a strange question..... I use Young Nails Synergy gel for my enhancements and they always stay on clients for at least 2 weeks without lifting. However I have had 2 clients in the last 2 months who have said that their gel started lifting within 2 days of them being applied. The coincidence here is that both clients had their nails extended by me at about 8pm the evening before they flew to Spain (same destination - Benidorm!!) on a 7am-ish flight the following morning. These clients dont know each other but I just think the coincidence is spooky.

Do any of you know whether cabin pressure affects gel causing it to lift? I suppose the other coincidence is that both clients were only away for a weekend and both were staying in hotels with pools and ding a fair bit of socialising over 48 hours...

What do you reckon???? Is it just pure coincidence or is there something in it?

Thanks,
Sharon xx

They wouldn't have lifted due to cabin pressure... sorry:)

They shouldn't lift from the pool either.. I've been on holidays many times and have been in the pool everyday for two weeks and wouldn't have any problems.

HTH:hug:

I forgot to mention ,... maybe the bulbs in your lamp just need to be changed and that's why both clients had problems around the same time.

They usually need to be changed every 6 months.. or sooner if you've been busy lately

Thx Karen - they were 2 months apart. It really has me flummoxed..... all my other clients report back really positively so with these 2 girls I thought hey there's something in this!

What I will say is that both of them were reluctant to let me see their nails so maybe they havent been that bad after all. Oh and now I think of it, neither had had gel extensions before either.......

Thanks for clearing up my crazy cabin pressure query lol!!!

Sxx

Oh sorry.. I read it wrong and thought the problems happened at the same time.

I wouldn't worry about that then, especially if the rest of your clients have no problems, must have just been a coincidence then :green:

I was a bit confused when I read the whole post, I thought the title said 'after a fight' !! I thought I was going to read something really exciting! Anyway I agree with Karen, there is no reason that cabin pressure would lift any enhancement. Could be suntan lotion though or mosquito stuff! Strange but true!! More likely to be a coincidence though and just one of those things so don't lose any sleep we all have unexplained lifting from time to time! :)

I thought it said fight too :lol: I was imagining girly hair puling and face slapping to be the cause of lifting.

Could be these ladies wanted nice nails for their holidays but are after a refund once they are home?!

could it have been the sun cream they wear using ?

LOL :lol: what way do your minds work??

Hiya

I have been cabin crew for years and have worn acrylic and gel nails in the past with no lifting. Maybe it's the boredom of flight and airport that caused your clients to pick their nails leading to the lifting. I am a prime example of boredom picking. Lol xx

I do know that as you go UP things expand and contract. I know that there was a woman. (sorry about this) That had Brest implants that went on a flight, as the plan went up the implants got larger (I guess they were sup standard implants) and when she got so High the burst. The ONLY reason I say this is MAYBE something in youngnails can not take the pressure. Also If they had not had a chance to fully set that might have been the cause. It is my understanding that acrylic is not 100% set for 24hr? Again SOrry about the breast implant story. Just wanted to show that anything can happen.

I beg to differ with this...
I have a client.. who ALWAYS has the exact same nails missing after flying to melbourne...
I know it is strange and sounds so out there... but I have been doing her nails for 3 years... and EVERY single time she flies they pop.. she can go for months and months without a lift/break... gets on that plane and pop.... we seriously laugh about it now.
I think it has alot to do with the fact that everyone leaves their nails to the last min so they look fab on their holidays... if the acrylic is still curing when they get on the plane, lift their bags, unpack and swim??? who knows.
sorry to disagree with some of u geeks xx

I've been on 6 flights since September last year (the most recent being Monday this week), I've worn both Gel and L+P and my nails have never been affected, occasionally broken by my own heavy-handedness, yes, but not directly associated with flying.
Swimming shouldn't have any effect, we have a pool and I've not had problems with my nails from swimming/chlorine etc.
Socialising? If they had too many bevvies and fell over (without remembering it) then perhaps that could be one reason :wink2:

Personally, I'd put it down to coincidence... not discounting what Mel said, just basing it on personal experience

Hi everyone - thanks heaps for all your comments - SO funny when I read that a few of you thought I had typed FIGHT - haha! Maybe that's what happened and all the clients nails popped off from all the hair pulling?

Thanks again
Sharon xx
