Just a quickie - does anyone know what effect chlorine from swimming pools can have on gel nails and lifting if any?

Thanks in advance!

In short... none.

I use mainly Brisa gel, most of my clients have pools and it doesn't affect any lifting issues they might have from time to time.

What problems are you having?
Where is the lifting?
How long after application is the lifting happening?

I am not having any problems as yet. I need to a set of gels on a bride who swims daily and am worried about lifting before the big day.

Ah ok... is it a buff off gel or a soak off gel that you'll be using?

Just wondering as the info I gave above refers to buff off gel  I have no idea re chlorine and soak off gels.

Soak off gels can soften with come chemicals, including chlorine bleach. With Bio Sculpture, it will turn it rubbery. You can put on a top coat, however it won't fully protect the gel.

Best bet for a swimmer is to use a buff off gel or a L&P system.

Oh dear it is a soak off gel - might get her to come in a few days before the wedding as opposed to a week before and then advise her not to go swimming. Thanks for all advice x

I've been swimming whilst wearing Bio Sculpture NNO's and had no problems at all. In fact i took them off at the beginning of the week and they were still firmly intact.

I wouldn't have thought that there'd be enough chlorine in the water to affect it, but i guess it depends on the pool. It's a tricky one!!

I use OPI Axxium Soak Off Gel Lacquer on myself and also swim daily. I find the gel lasts well over three weeks despite the swimming and regular nail clients!
