Afternoon geeks - just had a client call to tell me 2 of her nails have come off and a further 2 are chipped:cry: after I applied them on friday!! am sooo annoyed with self and feel soo bad for her.

I was hoping you could help me - please!!

The treatment was for removal of old gel and to re-apply new overlays - completed the process as normal - however........just checked my manual and it says you should soak nails in water&cleanser for 3mins after removal - I didn't do this, but cleansed, cleansed and cleansed the nail again and again!!

Could the lack of a soak caused the problems? Do you all soak after the removal of old gel??

I really would appreciate your comments as feeling terrible at the mo!

I offered a full refund/or correction and she just wants them corrected and was very nice about it........ still feel awful though!

P.s I use Bio Sculpture.

Thanks:)

I'm a Calgel user but a friend of mine that used to do my nails is Bio and when I had a soak off never did I have to was my hands after, she just carried on with the usual prep ?

Dont supose your client has been gardening or decorating ( or picking !!! )over the weekend do you !?

Just returned from a nail seminar for calgel, and that was one of the questions asked.
They suggested that there will still be acetone within the nailbed that requires the minimum of an hour to evaporate or what you are now experiencing will happen.
Hope this clarifies things a little for you. :green:

I think there are alot of Bio geeks on here who have alot of colour clients that change their colour each visit...i am sure they don't wait an hour before re overlaying....i am pretty sure they just soak off and redo...isnt that the whole idea about using a soak off colour gel....???

Yep your right Calgel do say that BUT personally I have never waited, I dont think my clients would be to keen either! correct me if I'm wrong but wouldnt the acetone add to the dehydration process ?

I use Bio and I soak off each time. I make sure my client washes her hands in warm soapy water to remove the soak off solution (I use 100% Acetone).. I've never had any problems. I think it's odd you were just told to sanitise, as the soak off solution would still be on the nails, so I'd ask your client to wash her hands next time and I bet you'll have no problems.. good luck:hug:

i'll add to the list of those who have done this successfully too.

the only reason i find somone has problems with a new set is because they are a little thinner than a set that has been filled a few times and they were used to a bit more strength.

I have no idea if this is true of not, I dont use either system (was at the seminar to test out if I wanted to use the system), just thought I would say what the Calgel girls said yest morning regarding the very same question.

Im sure you more experienced geeks will know more, I suppose they are just covering themselves if any lifting occurs?

I use Bio, and soak off each time and then carry on with prep, occasionally the client washes their hands after when i remember to ask them (isnt that naughty) but usually I never have any problems with lifting. Make sure that it is definately not their fault before you offer a refund as more often than not it is the client's fault where they've not used gloves etc...
