Gel or acrylic

Right so i've decided i'm either going train with NSI or essential nails (or both) but now i dont know what to start with, gel or acrylic? Is one easier to master than the other or do you just pick one and work from there?
Finally do you think it is possible to have a career just doing nails or do most people also do other aspects of beauty?

Cant wait to hear the answers Ivy, Im at the same stage as you and desperatly need more info. I was going to train with creative but since there closed and I havent heard back :cry: i will have to train some where else.

NSI products are great!

I prefer gel over acrylic but as I offer all three systems (silk/fibreglass also) I do tend to do a mixture of the 3....i'm definitely more of a gel fan!!!

I'm Creative trained in both L&P and Brisa Gel.

It is difficult to compare different systems as the are so different. Have you thought of going to have your nails done in both systems so that you can at least see what is entailed ?

Thaks for all your replies, I usually have my nails done in acrylic so dont really know much about gel, I think I will probably start with acrylic so I at least know what it supposed to look like!

Hi,

I do gel and acrylic but find acrylic (l&p) is requested more, and about 65% of my clients have this system compared to the gel. It is tougher and I find it suits more people so for now, if I were you, I'd plump for that.

Of the two systems l&p is the more difficult to master. At least you have the advantage of having watched your tech doing your nails with this!

I would go for NSI over Essential. Their products are great.

And yes, it is perfectly possible to have a nails-only career. I don't do anything else. I prefer to specialise in nails, and you will certainly improve much faster than if you were doing a bit of this and a bit of that as well (no offence anyone but you get my drift)
If you are doing only nails, then every time you work you will be gaining more and more experience.

I personally found gel easier than l and powder, but maybe because i did my l and p first i already had skills from that.I dont do nsi but have tried there products they are good, my preference would be to train with them.

I initially trained in L&P but never really got to grips with it properly - maybe I should've persevered and had more training but I didn't and tried gel. I found gel much easier to learn and eventually chose Calgel so did my training with them.

I am not ruling out a return to L&P at some point but not at this moment in time as the monomer smell really affects me.
