Hi, could someone please give me their opinion on a set of gel overlays I did in college this week. I know it will be disfficult without seeing them.

I used NSI, I preped, dehydrated nail plate with nail pure, primed nail plate, put on a thin layer of gel, cured for 90 seconds, put on a thicker layer of bonder gel cured again, then put on my finish top coat and cured for 90 secs again. Then I cleansed the nail with nail clease.

The finish result was not the look I usually get when using a tip and overlay.

Some nails looked thinner than others and the gel had shrunk awau from nail fold more than usual although I applied gel 1.5 mm away from fold and cuticle.

Does anyone know what I did wrong as my tutor didn't think there was anything wrong with them but I was not happy.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

did you cap all the edges?

Yes, as gel cures it shrinks back slightly . . . if you are sure to cap the edges you will be ok, good luck next time x

you said your 2nd layer was a thicker layer of bonder gel ?
was this a typo? it should be builder gel you are using at this stage.

Yes just an error,thanks.

Yes, you're right that is what I forgot to do. Thank you.
Would this be the main reason do you think?
YES!
gel shrinks so you need to make sure you cap all the edges and you should be fine.
let us know how you get on next.
good luck.xx
