Hello i have this friend who has split her big toe quite far down from the side inwards, can i put gel on to stop it tearing? Have done a search but cant find anything specific, thanks.:)

Why yes you can.

It may even help the tear to CEASE appearing.

It doesn't need to be thick, and it can be quite thin in application.

You can also use a fabric nail wrap to fix this,
i split my big toe nail from the free edge going up to the cuticle and it stopped it going any further and has almost grown out now hth

Cheers , i thought so but wasnt sure.:)

gel over split toenails works brilliantly! my friend knocked her big toe on a night out (one of those drunken moments!) and she got a split across her toenail but it was so low there was no way of trimming it down to where the split was so i just put a gel overlay on it until the split had grown up then removed the overlay! fabulous!:)
