Gel polish shrinking over time

I’ve recently qualified and have been doing gel polish on myself. I’m finding that after a few days, the gel is shrinking away from the free edge. Is this normal or is there anything I’m doing wrong?

Which gel polish system are you using, and are you ensuring you “cap” the free edge with the initial base coat?

I’m using the Halo gels, but perhaps I’m not capping the free edge well enough! I’ve not had this problem with clients so maybe I’m not being as thorough on myself

Are you also using the designated lamp for the Halo gel polish system?
