Gel Shrinkage? How to prevent it?

Well just had a go with my new balance gel, rather nice colours!! Went for a deep red and was wondering how to prevent it shrinking so the free edge is bare!!

Should you prep nails but not file to shape? apply gel and then file to shape before gloss top coat?

P.s. Pricing for coloured gel nno? What do you guys charge?

NO - do all your filing BEFORE YOU APPLY THE GEL filing after removes all the capping you have done
