Getting the confidence...

I am very new to doing nails and can do my own quite beautifully but am lacking the confidence to actually put myself out there to do others...especially for money! I am new to this town and don't know very many people well enough to ask to practice.

I own a hair salon in town and thought I would introduce nails. I could be working tomorrow if I had the nerve to start.

How did you finally work up the nerve to do your first few sets?

Maybe you could put an ad up for a limited amount of time, nails done at a reduced rate ,dont tell them you are new, just throw yourself in there girl , I think you have to .

I remember my first mobile client , she had a pedicure, I was so dredding it, but in the end I really enjoyed, and she said she would highly recommend me.

My second was a nail biter wanting extensions, although she didnt stay with me , I was pleased with the end result and so was she.

Youll come across probs and obsticles , but just keep your cool,the worst they can do is cancel their next appointment, and if you dont hear from them , call them and see if there was anything they werent happy with the treatment. Youll learn as you go along.

I dont think theres ever a right time, its like planning for a baby ,just go for it.Goodluck.xx

I am still nervous after 10 years! I get stage fright and am afraid the client won't like her nails. I work on a lot of the professionals here because they aren't being taught acrylics here and they love the look of a 3 color fade. Talk about nail biting! I love it though, and they always end up looking great!

Wow, if you can do your nails, you can do clients nails. I think it is very difficult to do your own nails compared to having the client sit in front of you.
