hi there,

just wanting to ask you all , do you have to get special glitter to mix with your powder,
hope you can advise
many thanks x

You can use most glitters from craft shops etc,
mix it with your powder and just test it on a nail tip first to make sure the colour does not bleed when you add the monomer to the mix,
micro glitters work better than the larger glitters hth

Yes make sure the glitter isn't too big. I use glitter that is almost like dust and it gives a shimmer effect!!

I recommend adding one parts glitter to 3 parts polymer as glitter is a foreign object and can alter the curing process.

Sorry to jump in on your post but i have got myself black glitter acrylic. What nail tip would you put this onto.or does it really matter !

It doesn't really matter, but I mostly use clear tips when doing glitter nails, they look so nice from underneath and the light gets through it.

I have bought glitters from all sorts of places.
I find the finer glitters much easier to work with & much easier to create a crisp smile line when doing a glitter french.
Use the mix ratio's as given above.
If it's a craft shop glitter, then just do be sure to try it out on a tip to check for the colour bleeding out, I have had this happen and it's a nightmare! Best to try it first before mixing up a big batch - dip brush into monomer, then dip into clear powder, then dip into the glitter and apply it to a tip, then watch & see if it's ok, or if it melts the glitter!

thanks for your replys,
can i also ask would you always use glitter tips over a tip or just build them as you would the white, i would have presumed both, sorry to sound thick just i have never done glitter tips before xx

If sculpting, then I would sculpt out a thin layer of clear powder to get your shape and length, then do a layer of your glitter then encapsulate in clear.

I would always use a glitter from a nail product distributor to save wasting time and money with glitters that end up bleeding out. There is so much choice out there now and not expensive. Opal glitter, micro slice, diamond glitter something to suit everyone!!!
