i have been looking at some pictures of L&P coloured and glittered acrylics i didnt realise how many nice colours there where. I only thought you could get such glittery colours if you use gel! Can anybody suggest a good place to buy some really striking glitter from? i already have NSI coloured acrylics they are great, some nice colours and some nice shimmering colours too but they just dont stand out half as much as some of the glitters iv seen and for those clients wanting to go all out id love to be able to offer these glitters! also sorry to be a pain... when i do purchase some do i just mix the glitter with my NSI clear powder an apply as normal?? :irked:

Craft stores are good for glitters, lots of colours and very reasonably priced,
hth

Hobbycraft do packs of six little tubes of glitters and the small discs too. They are quite cheap for what they are and are really easy to use as they have a little stopper at the top.

I was told by my educator at NSI to mix 1 part glitter to 3 parts powder, tried it and works fine. It's great fun messing about.

I mised opal shimmer with radiant pink for zones 2 and 3 and encased some of the opal discs from hobby craft in zone 1 last night on my little finger. Loving it at the moment. Have fun :)

what do you if u doa full set with glitters tip for wxample...and at the next refill the client want to change color?...do u paint on top of the glitter???

I got mine from the 'Young Nails' stand at The Scottish Beauty Show, and they are amazing, I absolutely love them. I mix them 1 part glitter to 3 parts powder, and I also use NSI technail colour kit, they work really well together, especially on a clear tip, very striking!!

At rebalance time, I just rebalance as normal. If clients want a colour change, I just file the exisiting colour right down, and apply on top, never had any probs.

Hope this helps xx

:green:was just looking at the amount of lovely glitters... they are all so lovely i wish i was rich so i could get them all lol!!!
Do you know of anywhere that you can get a tiny sample?? so you can see properly before you buy... or let clients see your choice before buying so you dont waste money??

xx

I file back down and sculpt a new free edge

INM have an AWESOME range of 'Powder Paints" (acrylic colours) which half would have glitter in in for example the Tutti Fruitti and Northern Lights range of acrylics. Highly recommend them. Ive got a few pics in my profile is you wanted to have a look.
Cheers

I do a layer of clear first...then the glitter layer...so i just have to file down to the first layer of clear and then re-do...either more glitter...or french...or whatever the client wants.

hi angie this sounds like a fab idea could you tell me more about the application of this and can you use it for gels aswell?
im finding that when i do a rebalance its taking me just as long as a full set because of having to file most of the product off,its so annoying.
thanks.xx

Well i only use gel...:green: this is how i do glitter tips..

prep
bonder gel
cure
builder gel (over whole nail)
cure
clear gel on the tip area
no cure
dab on glitter using a spare brush
cure
seal with clear gel
cure
wipe
buff to shape
clean
top gloss
cure
wipe
oil

Done ... (in the words of Gordan Ramsey... )

Rebalance ... file off the glitter...this leaves your builder and bonder....rebalance as normal..replacing the glitter as you would POW.

Could you pls post a link for INM products? where do you get them from? I would like to try some...

dome my set of glitter nail yesterday!!...well..I am sooo not happy with them...client loved them but that is not the point ......

first I mixed glitter and powder 3:1 as suggested...it didnt work!..I dont know what I was doing wrong...maybe the glitter I was using is too thick? Its like 3D gems..if you know what I mean...

after failing doing it (luckly my "client" was my sis in law)...I have applied glu directly on the tip!!...mmm..then I applied my clear acrylic...it felt too tick thou...I managed to file it down to what I think was an acceptable thickness...but still I have done a mess right???

I took pics, will post them tomorrow so I can get a feed back...did not get around to do it last night.

I agree Nail graphix is great, I also like young nails glitters and I often use crafting glitters too ( I love my bling!).
I mostly use a fine glitter but for chunky glitter you need to have more powder in your mix and work wet.
Always remember to work thinly with glitter as you have to cap the glitter with clear to protect whilst finish filing.
I also like to use thin clear tips for glitter as it allows the light through and adds to the sparkle. I personally dont like NSI tips for this as I find them too thick, I use these:
PRO IMPRESSIONS
I also find that I get the most bling out of my glitter when topped with a coat of UV top coat like Glaze'n'go.

The most popular look I get requested for is for diamonds in the rough (nail graphix) over white tips.
HTH

Post some pics when you've had a play

Oh hunnie are they your nails ? They look extremely damage, and sore.

Well done for posting a pic
I know how hard it is to take a picture of glitter nails.
I would say that unless you were going for the transparent look you could probably do with adding a little more glitter to get a denser coverage.
There are a few areas where I think you need to work on:
Apex: (should have a gentle curve from cuticle up to the apex), it looks like it is flat then suddenly get steeper toward the tip possibly causing the nail to become "tip heavy" quickly
Tips: I think from the pic they look like they could be tapered a little to stop them looking fanned. You said you didn't get on with the tips, what problems did you have with them?

If you explain where you think you have struggled perhaps we can help you improve in those areas.

no...my sister in law's nails...she used to be a nail biter...now she stopped..and become a cuticle biter!!!...then constantly complains of lifting!!...lol...

I know they look sore..not a good pair of hand to take pics isnt it??...
