Just a quick question. If I use a well-used, gloopy Shellac, whether it's base, colour or topcoat, will it decrease the longevity of the nails ie will they chip quicker?

With the popular ones, if I find that they are starting to get gloopy/towards the bottom of the bottle, I do tap them on my hand a bit more to get it going, but still find that nails can chip quicker or even shrink back if I use them.

Anyone else experienced this?

Yes it can affect the longevity of the service, you would be best to replace the bottle.

If the necks of the bottles aren't been kept clean, or you are a slow painter then over time the solvents can evaporate and leave a gloopy solution as you've noticed :)

When the solvent to gel ratio has been compromised it's next to impossible to paint the shellac on thin enough so you will get undercuring, which can cause service breakdown
