Going from red to brown w/highlights

as the title suggests! im doing someones hair that is currently red all over, shes wanting to go brown with some blonde highlights but im looking for some advice on how to approch it basically, im doing it at hers and i always feel a bit panicked doing colours outside the salon basically lol!

so im thinking of doing cleansing shampoo to remove the red, and then applying a colourtouch brown then going back and doing highlights but is this sounding a bit backwrds/?? im going to hers later on to have a look at it think i'll take some cuttings to do some tests i think she has a lot of colour through it but any help would be grand!!

I'd foil it and put the brown in between, see how it lifts then tone it accordingly. I'd just explain that they may not come up very light first time round. Even if you get them to a caramel to begin with. But yea do a few strand tests xx
