ok then my mother in law goes into hospital tomorrow for a small op and having a local ani (day case).

i'd forgot all about this until yesterday when she asked if she could come and see me for her infill. Not thinking i said yes of course but some hours later thinking about it i thought OHH ERR!!

does anyone know if you need to remove enhancement if going in for a local i know sometimes they ask you to remove polish. i've asked her what it say's on the notes given to her but it doesn't say anything.:irked:

would it be best to soak off today and then put a new set of overlays on after the op or just infill and keep them short?

i'm worried that she is going to have to go all week without enhancements on and come to me next weekend with no nails left
it's took ages to get them to how they are now and it would be dreadful to have to start it all again.

any sort of advice would be most welcome.

I had a local and still wore them, when i asked they did say they can use toes as well to see the colour under the nails.

But when i had a general i did have to take them off

I have heard that its all down to the consultant....some say fine others say remove. They can see what they want to see by using your toe nails i think so i cant see the problem.

When my ladies have hospital stuff i remove the white and make as as natural looking as possible.

When I went in for my opp last Friday I just left mine with a pink NNO!! So safe bet all round as they just looked like natural nails but I didn't have to remove them as my natural nails are so weak!! Was gutted though as had glitter tips on before hand felt naked & not had chance since to redo them!! But was told I had to remove them as well as varnish on toes at the pre opp appointment. Then they compromised & said just the one on my index finger as they know hiow expensive they can be to have on but thought no way as can't stay for a few days with no nail on & what if I broke my natural nail, ouch, so went with plain & they never noticed!!! :)

Was annoyed though as when I got there one lady had full P&W's on!!! So must depend really, what they gonna do rip them off before surgery or waste theater time & say no we won't operate, I think not!! Like said above they can use your toes also to check your circulations is still ok!! Don't worry about it!!! Hope your M-I-L is ok & it all goes smoothly unlike mine, lol!! I always like to make things difficult!!!!

It's quite strange really beacuase when clients go in for emegency treatment, and have nails on, they still get the treatment/surgery but when they go in for sheduled surgery they are asked to remove them.

I'm going in for an op a week on Tuesday with a general anaesthetic and I was told to remove my enhancements. I think I'll maybe take them off towards the end of the week, then use loads of Solar Oil. It's going to be a few days after before I feel up to putting them back on, so it will probably be a week I'll be without them. I think I might be best to take a bit of length off them or all my long ones will have broken by then! :(

when i last went in i also had a local but when i got the paper work through it didnt say anything about enhancemets so i phoned them and because i was going in as a day case they told me to just remove about 3.so thats what i did.
i think you shold phone them because they might rather you took them off as some do but then others arent bothered.
good luck and i hope evrything goes well for you.x

thanks everyone for your advise

well i have done NNO and shorted them.

As you say Cathie when it's emergency treatment they don't expect you to take them off.
i've got to go with her tomorrow so i might take tip remover and sit in op removing them

it's only a day case and local antithetic it's also a private hospital so don't know if that makes any difference.

i'm just glad i haven't removed them ,as they look so lovely now.

once again cheers geeks!
