Hi I am just looking for a bit of advice. I have been doing nails for nearly six years but have always worked in a salon. I have recently moved to manchester from scotland and want to go mobile due to childcare and other commitments but dont really know how to go about getting started! I do both gel and acrylic and am wondering what sort of prices to charge, what are the best ways of getting new clients, and really any other advice anyone can give me!! Thanxx! :)

Firstly ring other mobile techs in your area, get them to send you a price list in the post, then you can see what prices people are charging.

Then once you have a price list, get your self out there and make your self known. Get some flyers made, put them in hairdressers, waiting rooms in doc's and dentists, stand in a busy high st or shopping centre and hand them out. get your self listed on Yell.com (its free). Also get a sign made for your car, so people see it when you are out and about.

Also add to your treatment list, like waxing, lash tint, spray tan...

Its hard at 1st waiting for them clients to come in... but worth it in the end.

HTH

Dont forget your public liability insurance and car insurance for business use, if u dont already have them that is

Thanx for the advice is much appreciated :D

I did lots and lots of house leafletting when I first started (on Sunday afternoons when people are sitting around and will read them!) and then once I had a few clients from those the rest has come through word of mouth.

I think you just have to get out there and be proactive and eventually the phone will ring. I wouldn't spend a fortune on newspaper advertising, in my experience it doesn't work, or at least not as well as leaflets. Best of luck x
