What do you mean when you say the landlord has eliminated the lease?
Who owns the lease now?
In situations like this it really is best to have a contract from the start to avoid any confusion.
Does she have a contract with the landlord?
Im just a bit confused now as to who owns the lease!

That is awful! What a terrible thing to do! Since you've been paying all of it I'd try and get her kicked out! Contact your landlord and citizans advice bureau and see what they say.
And then she has the cheek not to speek to you like! What a major B*TCH! I wouldn't even want to work under the same roof as her after that! Good luck x

this is where i get confused too lol he said there wont be alease now for her as the landlord spent £2,000 on legal fees and she hasnt bothered to sort it out, and he gave her to the 1st of jan to sort it out and she never did so now hes said its i rent my half, she rents her half, but shes saying she wants the whole salon. and shes going to her solicitor to try and get me thrown out lol
i hope that helps x

Well surely it's not up to her, it's up to the landlord. She has reneged on her contract with the landlord so it's up to him to sort it out with her. I would go back to the landlord and get him to write a contract out saying you have to pay half and she has to pay half. To be honest, if i was the landlord i'd not renew her contract as she has not kept to her side of the bargain. I'd ask if you can have it in your sole name as you have been paying 100% of the rent anyway so it's not like you can't afford it on your own.

Thanks guys x

It sounds like the salon owner doesn't own the lease.. She must, just, be renting the salon from the landlord, who owns the lease.

It is common practice for a landlord to not allow sub-letting or renting, which unfortunately, is where you have come unstuck.

Although the salon owner has broken the landlords rule not to sub-let, I don't think she's done anything wrong by asking you for rent, as long as you've used the space and facilities.

Hopefully the landlord will let you pay your rent directly to him/her and allow you to continue.

??? as this thread has been edited with just xxx its pretty useless now...so i have closed it.
