Growing out layers

I have shoulder length hair with some long layers. I want to grow these out but in the meantime will need to have a trim. What do I ask for without having the layers trimmed into again. Can I just get a blunt cut?

just explain that you want a one length trim and that yoiu are trying to grow your layers out. i think you should get the tiny bit trimmed off your layers tho as they will split and you will never get them grown out.
