I set off yesterday to make a considered purchase. My purchase is going to have to last for several years.
I had researched types, modifications, price, suitability for my purpose.
The sales technique involved starting with the price shown, a colleague joining in and giving support to the sales person, the getting out of the calculator, the squeezing out of a better price, the calling over of the manager, the whispering of a very special price and the look of slightly disappointed resignation when I stuck to my budget.
What was I buying?
