Can anyone tell me why people are concerned how dark or light the guide colour is on a spray tan? as this does not reflect the tan outcome? I have just had a spray tan and although the guide colour was a lot darker to what the outcome was, I wouldnt have wanted to leave the guide colour on for a few reasons, the main ones being i felt sticky all day and i had "tide" marks on my neck and my creases which made me feel i had to explain myself to people i saw that day saying i am not really this dirty, i have had a spray tan. So i have read on other threads about what colour the guide tan is and how much darker the developing tan is or vice versa and my question is .......... why would it matter? am i missing something? surely the only thing of importance is the tan that develops next day?

Theoretically, Yes!
It doesn’t affect the tans outcome, however you have to also consider that the client can feel a little disappointed when the tan they initially get so hyped up about is not the tan the retain after showering.
It is a problem sometimes with some brands exhibiting poorly matched bronzer strength to the tan strength they see after the morning shower. These two need to really be in sync to avoid this disappointment the next day.
I guess the best thing to do is to inform them this will be the case in the morning to lessen the ‘shock’
Hope this helps.

I have been looking around for some before and after tan photos but all I can find is before tan and with guide colour, none of the actual devloped tan which leads me to question, how many guide tans are actually like the tans that develop. From my own personal experience having just had a fake bake tan, the guide colour was about twice as dark as what developed, whereas when i used to use my compressor with airbrush the guide tan with my coco bay was just a light mist but the colour developed darker. like you say I would hate my clients to go home thinking the guide tan is the actual colour that they will be left with if it is only going to wash down the plughole. I have just ordered the system from la tanning, but i am open to any solution really, I am just going to get my techniqe off to a T first then try different solutions once I have the "knack", here's hoping I have the "knack" lol or there will be lots of toys thrown out my pram!

I have a before and after pic of xen tan on my profile, dont have a pic of the colour guide on though. Its sprays on quite light then progressively gets darker and darker! It is darker than the actual colour once guide is washed off but not majorly IMO hth xx

i completely get where your coming from with this question as i have asked it to myself many times too...

I always tell the my clients that:
1. the colour guide is there to help me see where im spraying
2. it gives that instant tanned look (people want to walk out of your room looking like they have just come from holiday) psychologically they feel they have had a treatment done and look better instantly
3. I always tell them that they will look slightly different to the CG and to be prepared for it (nobody has been dissapointed in their developed result)

However i would like to personally add that i often prefer the CG to outcome colour on myself specifically because whatever i put on turns me into a nasty golden orangey creature, so i wish there was a product out there that was semi permanent but not of a DHA nature....

It is possible to get solutions that have no colour guide, tantrick is one of them
