I would probably be tempted to use the root colour to go down abit further to cover the blotches/splashes then re highlight over to blend back in. Anyone else think that?

I agree! The root color needs to be feathered more into the lengths of the hair. Right now in some areas, especially the back, you can see exactly where it stops. Like a dark cap on the hair. The root color also looks a bit brassy, but that could be the lighting?

I would personally not rush this and try to do root blending and highlights at the same time. Should be separate steps. First I would do the root rinse and air dry a bit and then go through with a variation of thin to super thin highlights.

Omg I can't believe some people are so petty , the girl isnt asking for your approval on her home! its abit awkward getting photos of your own hair .
All I can say is at least im not the only messy person in the world .

Haha sorry about my bra! Think everyone's seen one before tho! Just tried to take a pic to show u my hair 🙈!

I am however totally devastated about the mess of my hair :(!!! Any thoughts on the strategy of trying to break it up with highlights? X

I dont think thats the right thing to do... i think it needs to be balayaged again

Perhaps if everyone stopped chiming in to say how they agree things are getting petty then this post would have got back on track sooner...

If it was me, I would rather see a careful assessment of the colour in the flesh before I could even begin to know what I would need or what I would charge or how simple it looks based on a picture. Any good colourist would rather the same.

You need to let a professional feel and move the hair, assess it more in depth under different lights.

Each hairdresser on here uses different colours and different methods. You'll get bamboozled because I'm sure they're all an expert with their colour brand.

If you go to a more reputable salon and see they're advertised colour specialist, not some egomaniac who claims to be God of all things hair just to get you in his chair and into your credit card, then see how you feel to go forward.

Not exactly inappropriate, but the undergarments on the floor aren't in the best taste.

You shouldn't post a reply if it's not constructive or of any help at all! Why put a downer on the poor girl's already traumatic situation?!?!!??!

Absolute nonsense reply! So a bit of background reality is on show?! So what!!!!

I know NOTHING about hair, but I had a hair disaster & my advice would be to be patient and let them correct it in time...

The "reputable" salon that well & truly knackered my hair, offered to "fix" it and then proceeded to again over-process my hair, like 2 days after the big mistake!!!! Rather than doing what I now know would've saved the whole upset/trauma that I had to endure because of their incompetence by leaving it to repair itself before being trashed by them again...

It took me 2 & half years to get it all half decent again due to breakage at the roots and general bad condition etc...

Sometimes, if you try to fix something that's not broken, you can pay for it for a long time 😢😢 xx

And that's a wrap. I'm sure this will be closed. I can almost feel it. :|

Chill out lol you make it sound like her hairs gonna take years to fix 😂

Op just go back to the salon and they'll fix it for you, if you don't want to then go to another and they'll sort it out for you, it's not that hard to fix honestly

No, I meant it could take a while to get it right again IF it was to be worked on and lifted again too much in too short a time, rather than perhaps leaving it a short while & piling on the treatments first before trying to rectify the colour mistake

It's ok my hair hasn't been lifted by them so if they go in with packets it won't damage my hair, they only done the root colour which is ct7/3.. Regardless.. He wants to highlight to cover up the bad bits but then surely I will just look like I have highlights? I really was looking for ombré. I no personally if it was one of my clients I would Defo go back over with 7/3 and then after its rinsed go back in with bleach and try and blend out some of the lines to avoid the highlighted look.. I just don't want to go in and seem like one of those people who just complain and is trying to boss him about🙊! Because I'm really not but it truly is a mess! And I no how frustrating it is when someone thinks they no better! The salon really is a reputable salon, the guy has been hairdrrssing since before I was born! He used to work in one of the top end salons in my area before he opened his shop so I do no he knows what he's doing.. I'm just not sure what happened to mine! 😩 x

I dont even think 7/3 was the best colour choice... i would just do the roots and balayage the bleach through at the same time. What's he going to do bleach highlights? Surely that's going to make even more of a mess? The dark will be broken up but you'll still see where it stops?

Do what people are saying.. And get going back to that salon out of your head!! They clearly can't do ombrè.. If they let you walk out like that the first time.. Why go back for more?!!

Do a facebook search of your local salons, go on their pages and wait until you find one with consistently good work that you like!

In the meantime, I'd just go back.. Say you're unhappy and want a refund! Put it towards the appointment in a new salon 😊

The only reason I'm gonna let him try and fix it is because I have a huge night out tomoro, I can't go with my hair like this :( I'm freaking out now!! Surely it can't get any worse?
He used 7/3 as its close to my natural colour and I said to him I don't want to have such harsh roots anymore as they grow in hence why I changed from full head bleach.
I don't mind 7/3 however on my hair it's went 100 different shades.. Mostly because I have bleached hair underneath it so obviously it was never going to grab perfectly but also because it stretches down in completely different levels throughout my hair :(!!! Mannnnnn should of just stuck to bleaching :(!!!!

I know your saying he is a reputable guy and has been hairdressing for a long time, but that's not a accidental mistake, that's someone that doesn't know how to do balyage!

The colour being spotty would be a mistake, but completely uneven from one side to the other is just lack of skill.

If you want it to look like an ombre you need to root stretch the top and crown through the back, just leaving the front out and low light it. This will create a rooty look, but I would advise you to go slightly darker on the ends, so it's not such a strong contrast.

Where in Scotland are you? Perhaps we could recommend someone?

I would do as the above posters said and find a salon with a facebook page and websight and check their pictures out and go to a salon that has lots of ombré and balayage pictures up and the names of the stylists that do them on the page. It won't be too hard to correct this and make it look stunning. I'm sure there will be someone near you that can do it for your night out. Hope it goes well and please post the results up xxxx

I went back on Thursday..
He highlighted..
Then washed..
Then re highlighted..
Then washed..
Then I pointed out it STILL looks AWFUL.. Which he agreed and said "you can't sit in here all day, see how u get on over the weekend and if u still don't like it u can come back next week and we can try and fix it again"

I'm going to go somewhere else this week and hopefully it gets fixed. It's so bad 😩!! Just haven't decided yet where to go, but will Defo put more pics up when it's done! Thanks everyone ❤️ x

Did you ask for a refund if even he's agreed its awful after a second attempt. X

As people pointed out, he clearly doesn't have the knowledge or the skill... to say we can TRY fix it again is a joke!

I don't often agree in refunds but he has done your treatment wrongly and it needs sorting, he can't do it so he owes you your money to go somewhere that can!

Might go down Tomoro morning and ask, I feel so embarrassed!! I hate complaining especially being a hairdresser myself, I can't imagine how awful it would be to be in this position with one of my own clients!! X
