Hi guys,

Looking for some advice. I’m a trained hair extension specialist and have been qualified for over 8 years, currently using euphoria one and glamlox.

I have a client/ friend that Iv been doing for 3+ years (who I don’t even charge full price? Mate rates) she has used all types of hair that I have offered, originally from glamorous lengths, hair planet and Routes. Iv been with euphoria one now for nearly two years with no complaints. She recently had what she says is a bad batch from euphoria one Brazilian range that I fitted just before Christmas. I believed this is down to her poor aftercare as I have never had any problems with that hair in two years ( she’s a nightmare for using the wrong shampoo and doesn’t use any types of oils or heat protector sprays) after arguing back and forth And suggesting things for her to try to rectify this set, I offered to fit her a completely new set free of charge this weekend. I decided that this time I would use glamlox. Not that I had any problems with any other clients and euphoria one but just that I wanted her to see i was trying a different supplier so she wouldn’t moan. I fitted on Friday, and by Friday night she was messaging me complaining that the hair felt too thin! ( 140 bonds as the hair comes in packs on 20 rather than 25 compared to euphoria one) I then offered her another free pack of hair to make up the difference to be fitted this Tuesday. But by Saturday afternoon she messaged me again saying the hair was terrible quality and that she was so unhappy and wanted a fulll refund. After back and forth telling her the hair was amazing and it would thicken up after a few washes I flatly told her I would not refund as the hair was amazing quality and that now she was just being ungreatful. This morning she has messaged me again saying that she will be taking it further? I’m fully certified and insured but can anyone advice what I should do? Has she got grounds to take this anywhere? Even though I’m not sure even who with!

Iv always found myself to be more that accommodating to clients but with this one being a so called mate and not even paying full price it’s reallt knocking my confidence. Should I just issue her a refund even though she won’t allow me to take this set out and she said it will damages her hair more :-(

Why are you still doing ‘mates rates’ for this cheeky person?
You said yourself you’ve been doing this for 8 years so it’s not as if you need her for practising on.

You know that she’s no friend if she’s started to threaten you.
That’s way beyond cheeky but I’m too polite to put what I really think of her.

Just ditch her immediately. Block her number and have nothing more to do with her. She doesn’t have any grounds to sue you, she’s just pushing your buttons and trying to scare you into doing what she wants. She’s a nasty user and when she starts having to pay full price elsewhere, she’ll come crawling back telling you it was just a joke.

But you’ve got her sussed now so don’t fall for it and don’t ever do her hair again, no matter how much she begs you. Let her know that treating friends this way is unacceptable and make sure others know why you’ve ditched her, if they ask.

Mates rates are fine for when you need to build a portfolio but you should have stopped doing that after the first year, unless there’s a reciprocal arrangement where they do a treatment for you at cost price.

You can only take someone to small claims for at least £500 so I wouldn’t worry. She’s just bullying you. Some people you just can’t please. You’ve done more than enough even supplying and fitting another set for free. I wouldn’t do that so well done lol. Get rid and block her.

Get rid of the selfish B****h

I’m beauty not hair but do not give her a refund as I believe it’s admitting liability and you e fine nothing wrong at all.
My insurance offers free legal advice, not sure if yours may have similar. But it didn’t sound like she has a leg to stand on.
What a nasty person she is.
Seriously, forget mates rates, you need to earn a living and can do without clients like her.
Try not to worry x
