I’m currently working out my price list and have all my costs for each method but I’m struggling with my maintenance and refit costs.

I also know that what people offer in their maintenance appointment varies a lot too which is a bit confusing (pushing them up, refitting them all, just checking them). In my maintenance appointment I will be checking for matting and refitting any that have been lost. I won’t be pushing them up. This will be done after 4-6 weeks. I’m thinking of charging by the hour for this at £50 for the first hour then £10 an hour after that. Also requiring a £30 deposit (to cover buying an extra pack of hair to refit any lost strands).

My refit will be after 12 weeks where I will remove the full head and refit all strands. I was thinking of charging £150 for this (again with a £30 deposit to buy a pack of hair to cover any further lost strands).

My removal fee is going to be £50.

Do my prices seem fair, especially for the whole refit? If I were to charge for my removal fee and fitting it would be £170 so £150 is discounted but it really ends up just being my fitting fee of £120 as £30 will be for a pack of hair.

I hope this actually makes sense!! Any feedback is appreciated, thanks :)

I think this is all too much. I fit Nano Rings. And maintenance is simply every 6-10 weeks depending on the growth. No checks in between. They only ever have 1 or 2 come out MAX and if it goes past the 10 week, then they are removed and refit at another time due to nagging after 10 weeks can be a little bit and too much product in the hair. Clients pay me £50 for maintenance, which I remove and refit the hair in one sitting. Takes 2 hours, and I charge £50. If they are further than 45 minutes from me, I charge £65 to cover cost of petrol. I take £15 deposit, which covers me for the beads I buy for maintenance and then they pay £35 on the day of fitting :) removal fee is £25 unless 45 mins away fro me as removal takes 25/30 minutes.

I meant matting

Thank you for your reply! What do you mean it is too much do you mean the prices or what I’m offering? They told us on my course that it’s okay for around 20 to have come out between fitting and their maintenance appointment, that’s why I was thinking of buying an extra pack of hair ready for maintenance appointment. What would you do in a case where the client might have lost a few? Would you just remove and refit the amount you have there? Your maintenance seems more like a full refit which is what’s confusing me because some people do that but then some just replace what’s come out. I’m also expecting removal to take me around an hour do you think this is too long? X

Yes too long. If some come out, then they keep hold of them to have them refit, they don’t just throw them away :)

Removal takes 25/30 mins usually :)

200 strands, in lines, will move down, after 6 weeks need moving up, removing and refitting one by one. Takes 1.5 hours normal at most 2 hours :)

No need for checks at all in between, people don’t want to pay for someone to ‘ check ‘ their hair, and refit a few here and there. It’ll be messy in the hair :)

I live in Hertfordshire, the average is £50/60 for this refit/ maintenance and 90% of people do this with extensions. I mean there is just no need for all of the above, 20 is ALOT to come out Over the Time!

Your prices are a lot also, I make £60 from first fittings and £50 for maintenance ( depending on travel ) which I think is fair, as takes 1.5-2 hours. Which is like £25 an hour! No one makes that so is perfect! But prices up to you, just don’t think people will pay that, extensions are sooooooooo in demand, and people will look for cheaper :)

We charge £25 per half hour, regardless if they have an install, maintenance or refit. Our prices have remained the same for years. We haven't had any one question or prices in years. In fact many have said our prices are low and give us tips!

People will pay what they value your worth. If your marketing is right, you will not have people complaining it's expensive. Everyone has their own different prices, depending on who their target market is.
Just like Gucci, they keep their prices fair to who will and can afford their products. Same with Lidl!
Charge what you are worth, you deserve it!

Prices are perfect! What they should be.

I charge similar for refits

I agree with Sasha, people will pay for amazing hair and fittings.
I’m one of the most expensive in my area and I’m busy constantly.

People are realising they don’t want to pay cheap as they are paying twice. Charge your worth, charge what you want to make.

The problem with the hair industry is that it’s saturated with people charging low prices competing with others trying to get clients.
All it does is bring the industry down.
I work for no less than £50ph, clients are paying for my knowledge, expertise and amazing hair that lasts

Also I live in a small city which is flooded with “extensions specialists”

Thank you so much! I’ve actually had a lot of interest which I’m really happy about and already done two fittings in one week! I’m the same as you pretty expensive compared to a lot of people but I’d rather get the sort of clients that do want to pay for nice hair anyway rather than a quick cheap fix! X
