my daughter has been putting extensions in for a while, however she has had her first problem.

the situation being put hair in well over a week ago, the lady went to hairdressers, she has called to say the hair tangled etc, hairdresser saying not real hair, lady now wants extensions out, shes been cutting her hair:irked:

My daughter is going to view today, she throughly explains to all clients aftercare etc, and rejects people if feels hair unsuitable, never had a issue until now, hairdresser trying to blame hair.

she cant really comment and whats happened to hair, but even client said hair was fine until went to hairdressers.

the hair is human hair and if it was monofibre should not be in this state.

my daughter has always had glowing feedback and has gotten rather upset, as feels bad for client., any advice would be appreciated.

If its the hair quality that is being a problem, then you need to send it back to the supplier to check the quality is up to standard as sometimes they do have just a 'bad batch'. This usually means the hair will need to be removed anyway! Hairdressers sometimes wont use the right products on the hair and if the client also agrees that the hairdresser is at fault then it may be worth you contact the hairdresser directly. I would remove the hair before it gets worse (if necessary).

so what i'd do is....

1st assess the hair, remove if necessary
2nd go back to the supplier with a quality issue - if the aftercare has been used and followed

then go from there - if it was the hairdresser then obviously you need to talk to her, if the client is wanting a refund, if it wasn't the hairdresser and a bad batch then the supplier should refund or replace, and if it was the client herself looking for someone to blame then she needs a talking to about aftercare and maintenance and a few firm words... tactfully of course.

hope this helps :) x

thanks for info, never had a problem before with hair supplier, she always uses same one.

me personally im not trained my daughter is, i think theyve, had maybe junior stylist scrub hair when getting washed , probably not used proper shampoo products etc.

just cant understand how hair can get into such a state, she is going to view today, the client wants them out, so you reckon she should send some back to supplier for getting assesed.

this has just upset her she takes so much pride in her work, this is first issue with hair, she has seen some bad cases of hair extensions where people have had them put in cheaply and NO AFTERCARE given.

Sounds to me like it happened at the hair dressers, bless her its awful and u do feel bad! She needs to ask lots of questions when she sees her, ask client how it was washed etc. What products they used. Hope she can get it resolved if the client is adament the hair is at fault then she should tell her that she will need to send it away for analysis and then depending oln the findings she may get a refund or replacment. But if the hairdresser didnt use the shampoo r cond from the company (usually) then the gurantee is void so she will get nothing xx

Hi, I had a similar experience at the hairdressers when I went in for a cut on the extensions I had installed. Basically, as you say, the junior at the backwash used normal shampoo and washed my hair as if it was all natural. I ended up with a tangled mess once seated for my cut and the stylist spent over an hour untangling my hair. This had not happened to me whilst I was washing my own hair and the stylist mentioned that the junior did not realise that the hair needed to be treated differently to avoid this happening. IMO the hairdresser has caused this problem with no or little experience of proper hair extension aftercare and is blaming the quality of hair so as to pass on the responsibility on to someone else! If it is tested at suppliers, I expect a shampoo containing sulphur in some form will be to blame, not your daughter.

thanks for replys. She needs to harden up i think, she feels bad, cos she said she woouldnt like it to happen to her.

from knowledge at moment i dont think special shampoo was used but could this happen straight away. You would think most hairdressers should be more knowledgable of extensions as it more popular now,

with some clients you have to really drum aftercare into them, i think some people think extensions require no care.

shes had a few potential clients who said they wanted them but couldnt be bothered with routine, she refused to do them, and some where they had there extensions in for 5 months and wondered why there hair looks like rats tails. she always recommends not to be in longer than 3 months.

its a shame that some people just put hair in and dont give a xxxx about aftercare, it can give industry bad name, lucikly all her work has come from recommendations.

i just hate to see her stressed, and the hairdresser trying to blame her.

update, daughter when to see hair she said it was matted like a hair ball not seen anything like it.

As it goes she thinks they may have just used normal shampoo and washed hair normal like a massage head treatment, apparently guy washing hair his last day, they are saying hair is not human hair, and blamed me daughter.

The client said she had asked if ok with hair extensions, they said yes its just like normal hair:( she didnt query it further as thought they knew what was doing.

Daughter has removed hair, do you think she might have any re adress against salon, my daughter has taken some hair to be sent away.

what questions should she put forward to salon.

her client should complain to the manager and say that their lack of knowledge has ruined her hair and that is had to be removed because of it and let themknow how much a new set of extensions will cost. Dont know if they are likely to compensate her but its worth a go if the manager dosent listen threaten them with goin to the papers - they dont want bad publicity :)

will forward advice on, the client is going back to salon tomorrow they will probably pass buck, apparantly they were unable to detangle hair so cut it out, after it was washed had to wait over an hour for a stylist to look at it.:irked: plus it didnt help as was near closing time.

they give her option leave with hair matted or cut it out,

they said if its human hair can use same shampoo etc, no need for different aftercare said its all a con:(

I feel sorry for your daughter. she is not the one in the wrong here.

it sounds to me thatthe salon her client went to have little or no experience with hair extensions. Of course the extensions are human hair but an extensionist recognises that the hair is nit getting nourished from the scalp so it needs specialist shampoo and conditioner.
Also as your daughter explained the hair needs to be washed carefully in a certain way. I very much doubt the junior at the back wash would have been careful and tangled her hair.

I think she should definitely put the salon right and get an apology for accusing her of using non human hair and point out the fact that her staff are not familiar with extensions. I doubt they will refund her loss but they can't carry on like that they might ruin other peoples extensions.

I always say to my extension clients that if they need a wash and blow dry and can't get me to do it then only to go to a salon familiar with extensions.

hope it doesn't ruin her confidence
