Hi,

I don't know if anyone can help me! I work more with beauty and nails and have no idea about hair related issues.

My mother has had cancer treatment - chemotherapy, mastectomy and radiotherapy. This ended around 6-7 months ago and her hair is growing back but very slowly. She is talking about having extensions on her hair (mainly on the fringe) but her hair is 1-1.5 inches long. I just wondered if this is long enough to have extensions and what type ?

Thank you

Hello! Hope your well. And massive love towards your mother! It needs to be at least 2-3 inches long (looks at your picture so around mid way down her forehead for extensions) I've done fringe extensions before and it does need to grow more to look more natural and so you don't see the bonds etc. Personally I would recommend bonds when she's this length as the size can be adjusted accordingly and the bonds can be tiny! Xxx

Sorry I can't advise I don't do hair.....I understand that we all look for different things to boost our confidence and particular when someone has gone through as much as your poor mum has ......but wow I love your mums hair ...I think that crop really suits her x

Big love to your mum, I think her hair looks great in the picture :) she would need to grow it a-little more, and then have the tiniest bonds put in the fringe , smaller than a grain of rice, maybe take some hair suppliments while she's waiting to to build up the strength again .

Em X

I'm sorry for the slow response!!

Thank you so much for your kind words, we all think that it suits her as it is, but growth is soooo slow, we have tried everything with her. I think she feels ugly because her hair was really long and curly before. :(
xxxx

Sorry I have been really slow to respond!! Thank you so much for your help! I did think that it needed to be longer, but wasn't sure at all. Mom had really long curly hair before and we just wish it would grow. We have used all sorts of shampoos and things to try and make it grow, even oils, but nothing seems to be working xxxxx

Thank you so much for your response, I'm sorry I have been slow to respond!!

We have got her to use lots of different growth shampoos, but the growth seems to be so slow. We asked her oncologist about supplements, but unfortunately they won't let her take anything which is frustrating :( Bless her, she just wants her long hair back xxxx

It won't be long it's at a decent length now .. I know what it's like, a woman's hair is her crown xx

It would need to be a little bit longer to be able to hide the extensions. I really reccormend taking biotin pills and 'Vitiams for the hair' pills which are from Holland and barret. I started taking them to grow out my natural hair colour and my hair growed twice as quick if not more then it did normally:) hair oils on the scalp did help aswell but it was mainly the pills taking it grow so much X

Lots of love to your mum !
3/4 wig pieces can be great too if she doesn't want to return back to using the full wigs.
Regular head massage can help by improving blood flow to the scalp and also aid the hair growing back and definitely give the biotin a go too! Xx

Firstly i just want to wish you and your mum all the best in the future. I hope she gets her hair back to how she wants it very soon. Some Raccoon stylists are trained to do extensions especially for people who have had cancer/ illness related hair loss. Although make sure you find someone reputable and certified with good reviews. My hair extensionist specialises among other things in hair recovery with Raccoon hair and does it on ladies who have lost their hair due to cancer and it can be done on very short hair. First your mum would need to go for a free consultation to see if her hair is strong enough for extensions etc. The extensionist makes the bond with Raccoon so the bond and strands can be made very small for people with very short hair. Racoon is a glue in bond so would need very regular maintenance and after care so not to damage your Mum's hair. I can't stress enough to make sure you go to a certified and we'll established and reviewed extensionist. I hope you're mum feels back to a million dollars in no time. All my love and best wishes. Xxx

Also wanted to say what a beautiful lady your mum is xxxxx

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, for some reason I haven't got a notification for your message! I wasn't being ignorant.

Thank you so much for saying that about mom, bless her, I don't think she feels beautiful at the moment, but I think she is. It's a big thing to get used to when you once had really long hair, but she has such a petite little face that I think she can pull it off. She keeps calling herself Paul Weller.

I will look into the Racoon methods, that's really useful thank you. Her hair is even now still very short! xxxxx

I am so sorry, for some reason my notifications aren't working :( I have only just seen this.

Thank you for this advice! At the moment, her hair is still very short. Someone else suggested Racoon extensions too, so will look into this and the 3/4s as you have suggested. Thank you so much xxxx

I have no idea what is happening to my SG at the moment, I aren't receiving notifications. Thank you for this advice, we asked the doctor about hair growth supplements and he said that she couldn't take anything at the moment because it may interfere with everything else going on in her body :( it is a shame because I think that these would help her hair growth. Her hair is still very short now :( xxxx
