Hi I'm a skin geek not actually a hair geek, however i was looking for some help. I have had hair extensions in for a couple of months and decided to take them out last week using the proffessional glue remover however I have been left with lumps of glue in my hair which i can't remove as its pulling clumps of hair out with it and is quite painful I have tried using 3 different glue removers and nothing has worked does anyone have any advice???

this isnt the nicest way of getting glue out, i'm not a professional in hair but when i had them i used loads of naff condtioner (saved my professional stuff :) ) on the gluey knotty bits and combed it throu, it did take about 40 minutes to comb it all out and needed a good wash afterwards... hth

ok can you please clarify the glue used?

kertin or latex based? kertin is hard and latex has a sticky gummy texture.

to remove kertin you need 'pure acetone' and extension hair pliers, 1st cover the glue bond in acetone then crush the glue with pliers, repeat untill the glue turns to power and brush through out.

to remove latex glue you need 'liquid gold bond remover', cover the head and glue, then gently brush through, ensuring all glue is covered. the glue wont break down but will slide out with brushing as the remover is oil based. this is a lengthly process not a quick fix but limits damage to the hair.

hope that helps, tried and tested both and use methods everyday as im a manager of a hair extension specialist salon.

Hiya, when I took mine out, I used my hairdryer on a low heat and a comb. Did the trick apart from small flaky bits which went when I washed through my hair twice and conditioned it.

HTH's xx

Did you put the hair extensions in yourself or by a professional?
