hi everyone i was wondering has anyone had a large break from your proffesion and gone back to it . i have had a break for 2 years (had more babies) and am really nervous feels like my first time again but i am also excited looking through the new cataloge from s2 . is it like riding a bike .i think i suffer from lack of confidence .i am also starting my business degree soon and hope to marry the two together one day . i will shut up now could go on forever

I had a 16 year break...and I'm glad to be back. I took some CND classes and am practicing like mad. My confidence is getting better but when I first got back into nails, I was a mess...

Sounds like you have a great plan. Best of luck to you!!! :)

I also had a break but i was only qualified with manicure and pedicure so i supose its a little different.
I took a year break when i first qualified i was perfect with my smile lines for frenchies and now im still trying to get the hang of making them perfect Took me a few weeks to get the hand of perfect polishing but all is going well now.

And im due to take my CND course in April for brisa so im very excited:green:

i know its a wee bit scary but i am trying to see is as exciting im sure we will both get back in the saddle in no time xxx:hug:

I took a break whilst pregnant with my son and soon after he was born as the smell of acrylic made me so sick! I lost my clients and basically had to start again but what really helped was I sat in with my friend, who is also Creative trained, just to get the ideas flowing again. I also had a play with my nail trainer, a lot less scary then a new client!

I wouldn't worry though, give it a few months and it'll be like you were never away!

Good Luck!

Kelly x

I am such a perfectionist too never satisfied with my work but I think thats a good thing in a way...always tryin to better yourself...I have had a few breaks actually.. originally trained in 97 and been back to office jobs blah blah blah but this is one thing that just keeps pulling me back..... Im doing 2 Creative courses in April & I cannot wait!!! Keep practicising its like riding a bike, you never forget x

Hi,

I took a break too due to having to attend other courses to do with my job (sign language), i couldn't afford to do both and because i work with sign language that had to come first...

However, that course has just finished so i am now able to do nails again, :green: i have booked on the brisa course in april and i plan to do the L&P conversion course as a 'refresher' and i plan to keep practicing through the summer on different people and on my nail trainer. I too am nervous and will have to get all my workbooks out again to refresh my memory but i think it will be exciting too.

Good luck, let us know how you get on. xx

Hi there,

I´m new here and also had a break from nails for quite some time.
I had my training in gels in 2006 and am back in business now! :green:
(Had lots of complicated stuff going on back then and went to study a whole other major in Uni).

But now I am sooo excited and happy to be back - I have my Brisa training in two weeks and already purchased some gels and Scrubfresh and lotions and potions and... as I can´t wait to get to work with them... :o

I know! I thought I was going to be a doctor - but decided then that beauty is my business. Less income, maybe - more passion, for sure!
And that, I have learned, is what truly matters!

I too have had a 2 year break and decided this is totally missing in my life, and although i'm not able to go back out on the public, as i need more surgery and recovery peirod to go through yet, i've decided to use this time of being immobile to practice on trainer, and practice nail art as much as possible, as i noticed thet last 2 years i'd been so miserable with immobile issues but nails always make me smile, so time to dust off the old stuff, and hit the courses again once i'm fighting fit. It's nice to hear that i'm not the only one, that has these thoughts and fears. xx
