Hi there,
I currently rent a couple of rooms in a hairdressers and have been self employed since June 2015. I do mostly nails but offer other beauty treatments aswell. I love all of my clients and my job but lately I just feel so stressed about money and work.
I have only just moved to a new salon 2 months ago and I know that January and February are always quieter but I just can't stop worrying about it. I have just taken on a skincare line aswell and have had a lot of outgoings as a result of moving and taking on a new product line. I have done all of this with money I had saved up.
I feel like I'm at an awkward stage in my life where I am trying to save for a mortgage and want to start a family within the next couple years and just don't know if constantly stressing about clients/advertising/getting new clients is worth it to me. My partner has a good job and we both live at home but I don't want to have to rely on him all the time either.
I just want to know if at 27 it is too late to pursue a completely different career? As I don't think I could go back to working for someone else In the beauty industry.
I am going to give myself 6 more months and see how I feel then as I will be able to enrol in a night course at college in September. But I just want to know other people's thoughts on changing career?
My main problem is that I'm at a bit of an awkward age of saving for a mortgage and wanting to start a family and I just don't know if the situation I am in is going to be sustainable for me.
Also I know I should think worry about what other people think but I don't want to feel like a failure having started a business only to close it 2 years later.
If you have read this far thanks for sticking out this long post!
Any advice will be much appreciated.
