I am borrowing a skin scanner of my dermalogica rep Skinlogic® Skin Scanner - SKIN SCANNER and I can't believe how bad the sun damage is on my face, out of everyone I have scanned mine is by far the worse and im convinced it is a result as having 2 - 3 sunbeds per week when I was at college (for nearly 2 years!!!) and constantly frying myself when holidaying.

I new it was going to be bad but I am mortified as it is REALLY bad !! I have been using SPF in my make up products and moisturisers for several years but sadly the damage is done in my case, I am fake tanning it all the way from now on.

Has anyone else experienced the skin scanner and what did you think ?

God how scary....I dread to imagine what state mine is in, I have never been into sunbeds really but we spent huge amounts of time at our other family home in Spain when I was growing up and I deffinitly remember burning and peeling, even my ears!!

Since I had Chloe (at 21) and learnt about protecting kids skin (and mine) I use a high factor on us all (when I say high I am talking 50+) if I want a tan I have a spray tan I am not risking it!!!

Arn't you pregnant at the minute??? I found pregnant woman have higher levels of pigment that can be unseen to the naked eye. Its caused by an increase in hormones and melanoma. It goes after 6 months from having baby. Mine is funny, I dont have freckles unless i am pregnant. they soon go!

xx

I had mine scanned quite a few years ago Juliette and it scared me too!

Since then I have been wearing some form of SPF every day even on dull days, yet due to my hormone issues the pigmentation marks on my face have appeared worse so I dread to think of what my skin would look like under a scanner now. A bit like being yours probably does with you being pregnant at the minute.

Best not to dwell on the damage that has been done but on what you do from now onwards to protect your skin.

Mmmm well visibly its just as bad as its ever been, I have very pigmented skin and have for the last 4/5 years so although it may be worse due to pregnancy Im pretty sure its not going to be much different afterwards.

Will have to use it again in a few months see if there is any difference but I doubt there will be

Im starting to wish I did spray tanning now because I think id have a ready made client base as lots of people ive already scanned are sunbed users and they are all now wanting fake tan !!

Ive got my friend coming in this week and If hers isn't the same or worse than mine then I will put some of it down to being pregnant as she never uses sun protection (anywhere) and has lived abroad, holidays in barbados etc so I will be bloody amazed if hers is any better than mine lol

Its all repairable! The skin under the right circumstances can and will heal itself. Obviously if you carried on exposing it to UV rays etc then it would lead to a quick onset of aging!

You really should do the spray tan training when you get a chance (I'm sure you've got a lot on at the moment but it's a great treatment)!

Absolutely, LOL and im only down the road!!!:green:

I would love to do spray tanning but unfortunatley there isn't the room at salon, did look into it before but at least I know where to send them now !!!! :green:

I have been scanned a couple of times both with the headset and the deeper level skin scanner. I have to say that although I have been an avid sunworshiper for years and I hate to admit it I still hammer it when on holiday with low protection, I have very little sun damage, on my face, the decolletage however is a different story and is starting to look a little crepey.

I don't use sunbeds now however. I used to go on a sunbed a couple of times a week just before I went on hoilday for 6 minutes per session but got such a bad burn that I ended up with necrosis in my left breast. Scared the hell out of me I can tell you.
