Help I've been silly and ended up with L&P setting on my brush - can I save it at all?

have you tried soaking it in brush cleaning solution?

Im sure ive read that you can soak it in monomer liquid as well, im sure someone will let you know for sure hth

What 'ave you gone and done?

The link to the thread will probably give you enough info, but if soaking in monomer doesnt work, the brush cleaner will do the job, just make sure you dont use brush cleaner too often cos it dries your brush out and it wont last as long.

Put some monomer in a dappen dish,
put a large blob of blu tack on the wall,
attach your brush to the blu tack so that it can hang down into the dappen dish without the flags touching the bottom of the dish,
now put some tin foil over the dappen dish so that your monomer can not evaporate,
and leave your brush there for 24 hrs,
this should soften the hardened product so that you can gently coax it out with a lint free pad, if there is any that is still hard let it soak for a while longer,
when you have it all out give it a rinse in some clean monomer and it should be back to normal hth

This bit is really, really important as I have wrecked a couple of brushes by ending up with bent bristles.

If you still have them you can save them by using your straighting irons on them on a low heat hth

Really?! Damn - they were retired to the bin ages ago sadly:irked:
But I'll remember that for next time because I know I'm bound to do it again!

i find that using a dappen dish and putting a bit of acetone in there and soaking brush for 5 minutes softens the acrylic and you can just run your finger nail down the brush and it comes out like jelly...wipe the remaning acetone off brush and wet with a bit of acrylic liquid to get it back in shape

Thanks everyone, still trying to save my brush but will do some of the things people have suggested since I replied last time. Have had to break open my new brush that I was saving till I got good! Oh well!
