just been reading Spirit & Destiny magazine and it is recommending a salt pipe inhaler to relieve hayfever symptoms. It is supposed to last 18-24 months and retails at £27.
The Salt Pipe. Salt Pipe Inhaler. The Natural Aid To Easier Breathing. Its Cool To Inhale!

I am a rhinitis sufferer, so am considering this.

What do you think?

It looks quite interesting Ann. It says it can provide relief for up to 25 minutes per day, the pipe itself lasts around 18 - 24 months. To be honest I think I will stick to providing my hubby with the hopi candles as he gets much more relief than this pipe offers. He is a chronic hey fever sufferer and once started becomes sensitive to most things and can become very depressed during the high pollen season.

I was also told that having a teaspoon of local honey can help hey fever sufferers.. have you heard about this?

Well I think I have just about all the ailments on that list!
For me 25 mins relief a day and repeatedly having to use it wouldn't be something I would want to do. I take 1 or 2 anti-histamines a day and then I don't have to think about it until the next morning - perfect!!

when I was last pregnant I tried this but I have to say that for me it didn't work. That isn't to say that it doesn't work for others though becaue I had heard some very good reports about it.

Certainly won't hurt to try it!

I was told about this but it only works if you hayfever is flower pollen - not if its grass or trees etc.

I get my hayfever in June and I can never figure out what is triggering it - any ideas??

My husband suffers particularly in the early summer months. He thinks its the laurel trees in our garden close to the entrance of our drive that start him off... as he says whenever he gets out of the car of an evening, it starts full on and the garage has laurel trees all around it.

Ahh that makes sense Jen, as my hayfever is always worse in the evening - I sneeze constantly, but I close the windows and it intensifies when I go to bed - That really pees off hubby as he's normally just dropping off !!

Same with my hubby... his whole evening is taken up with sneezing and he is washed out by the time he goes to bed. We don't get to eat alfresco much now in the summer evenings which is a pitty as its lovely where we are and would be so nice to sit out and relax. Maybe we should get the laurels taken out lol!!!

At the mo I sound like a wheezy old man who smokes 60 a day.

Think I need to go to the docs to get a stronger antihistamine - I feel fine, just sound awfull and my eyes wont stop watering, look like I am crying non-stop.

I do the honey thing, but it does'nt seem to be working this year for some reason, and I started at the beginning of March before the pollen was flying around, but no good.

Hubby suffers with hayfever and I suffer with seasonal Rhinitis ... between the two of us, we keep Kleenex in business!

Hoping whatever you find does the trick, but lay off the nasal sprays as they contribute to permanently damaging the lining of your nose and can only aggrevate existing symptoms.

Have a hug  or two.

hi everyone!

Yes, I have heard about the local honey.

I was prescribed beconase by my GP which I dutifully took, but was then told I would be on it for life! It went straight in the bin!

I do maintain my rhinitis with hopi ear candles, and very very occasionally I take an anti-histamine.

I did the candles a couple of days ago, and my ears are still itchy, so may have to do them again.

I was interested in the nasal ********, where you put salt water up one nostril and it comes out of the other. I saw it on that SPA OF EMBARASSING AILMENTS show a while ago, and even sorted out where I could get it from, but it makes me feel a bit nauseous thinking about it!

My hayfever completely disappeared when I stopped eating dairy products.

 Weird

snot weird, dairy is mucuous-forming foods.

I dont have very much dairy now. I went from a very dairy based diet, loved milky coffees and yogurts, etc, to now down to bare minimum. Still got rhinitis.
