Hi the black and silver are a very bad nail bitter so I did a NNO with black nail polish and silver glitter at the tip with gel overlay to make them a bit stronger she loves them even tho I can see they could be better but she has had them on a week up to now so she is well impressed for her that is very good.
The other are on me with a clear tip blended with acrylic then IBd 24k on top with some gems just to finish off then coated with GlazeNgo.
Thanx For looking

The tips on your own nails look nice. i dont particularly like the colour (that ind of colour always reminds me of smokers nails lol) but thats personal choice.

The black nails IMO could be so much better with a neater line around the cuticle and also a neater smile line with the glitter. it all looks very 'blobbed on' if you know what i mean. Even though biters are hard to work on i dont think that the finish is down to that. Take your time to get the finish perfect!! Afterall, they are a walking advert for you!!

:D

I really like your nails as well but not so much the colour as Kate said, but the placing of the gems is really good and looks uniform to me.
I know what nightmare nail biters nails can be, but again the smile line could be a bit neater, and the nails all look a bit different in shape,
Really good effort tho and doing a dark nail always shows up imperfections more I think.Well done for posting hun...xxx

Hi Thanx for your opinions yes I agree about the bobbly look lol will do some practice on my nail trainer tnite then get her round for a soak of and redo them she has started picking em now tho so don't think they will last much longer will repost when i redo them next week hopefully she will have a little bit of nail growth.

Good on you for posting and getting some advice... we are all learning here and helping each other.
Next week when you do her nails take a photo and post it.. add these photos to your album so you can see how far you have come. X

Tell us what you think first!! It is always a good exercise to see if You can spot the areas of improvement.

Hi Gigi I think the middle finger and the little finger look to short I have started the white to low down and the smile line could have been more :), but I did the first one a wide smile and she didn't like it so did them how she wanted them, but I should have told her to let me finish and them see what she thought about them with a nicer smile lol.
Hope that's all there is lol as am not sure she loves them but i know with more practise I can do a lot better.
Thanx for taking time to look at them.

At this stage of your learning curve you should be doing what you can do and be making your own choices re design and not be dictated to by your models.

Your comments I agree with. There are allot of faults with these nails. (whites too long, whites too wide, whites too fanned, too much product in zone 2, no balance between zone 2 and 3 ..... ) But starting out your practise on nail biters is not a good thing to do as your techniques need to be skillful and advanced to really do a makeover on a biter, and at this point they are not.

Rookie nail techs should be choosing models with at least normal looking nails that do not have big problems to over come. It's like asking a new doctor to perform brain surgery ... you just wouldn't. Give yourself a fair chance to learn and then tackle the problem nails. It only makes sense.

It takes allot of skill to make nails like the ones above look sleek and even remotely pretty so you are on a hiding to nothing trying to do nails like these.

Doing bitten nails also saps your confidence as biters do not respect their enhancements. do not take care of them, play and pick at them, and then blame any damage on YOU. You then believe all their problems are your fault when they are not.

Stick to doing your practise nails on 'normal' shaped nails and you will move ahead with your skills much more quickly.

Hi Gigi thanx for your comments will do them how I want next time, the shape is was how she wanted them apparently the fan shape is how she likes them if she has her nails done by a trained l&p tech.
When I next do them for her I will do them my way and put pictures on again
the problem with practising on friends is all my friends have really bad nails I don't know one person who has nice nail beds lol:)
I will do some on my nail trainer when I get time and put a pic on.
Thanx Annebet
