Hello there

I recently bought an eyelash perming kit and used it for the first time last week on a new client/neighbour.
She was over the moon when she hurd about me doing them as she used to get them done all the time and was amazed with the results so really she had high expectations already.
She explained how she always used the large rods so i just went with her advice.
Bearing in mind i have not done an eyelash perm since college and even then only got one shot as they were really tight with the products.
To cut a long story short i did the eye lash perm and her lashes didnt curl at all i did strugle to keep the lashes on the rod and was abit frightened of applying to much of the glue
I said i would do it again for her for free trying to either use smaller rods or more glue? just wondering when it is i can next try it do they have to be left for a period of time or can you do them again straight away if they didnt work?? also a lot of people mention clingfilm but i just dont have a clue i mean is it the same as the one in ur kitchen draw? do you cut it into strips??
Sorry if i sould really blone i just honestly dont have a clue and want to get this right in a professional manner.

Thanks kymm x

PS sorry about spelling  lol

Hya,

Firstly I would NEVER let a client tell you how to do your treatment, you are the qualified one not her.You can redo the perm immediately but follow your manufacturers instructions on this as sometimes it will vary.

As for the glue, this will not affect the perm at all. It's important though that once you stick the lashes to the rod you make sure the client can open her eyes then place a folded piece of damp cotton wool over the bottom lashes to help prevent them from sticking together when closed.

As for the cling film this agian differs with different products.Mine dosn't need cling film to help development.Again look at manufacturers instructions. If you are going to use then normal clingfilm can be used, fold it then place over the eyes with a towel over the top, this creates the heat.hth

you could use more glue to stick the eyelashes on the rod,,, the rod maybe too big and that's why there was no curl,,,,I use thuya products for perming,,,,I use cling firm and I use the normal kitchen one and fold it the idea with cling firm is for warmth,,,,,all so make sure the neutraliser is on long enough it's the neutraliser that set's it,,,I always leave it on a 1 minute longer just to make sure....Good luck and offering it her for free is good practice for you and it gives you the chance it correct it.

Thank you both so much really appreciate it!

Going to have another go on Wed using smaller rods, more glue and clingfilm fingers crossed lol

thanks again x

Like I said please check manufacturers instructions first as some perms do NOT need clingfilm.Mine works perfectly well without it.

Make sure there are no products left on lashes prior to perming(mascara, eye make-up remover etc)make sure the glue is tacky before trying to stick the lashes to the rod.If any come unstuck re- apply a little more glue, wait for 30 secs(or how long your manufacturer states)then re-stick the loose lashes.Use a cocktail stick to individually stick the lash to the rod(works a treat)Double check your timings.HTH

Good luck:hug:

Your client may have got it wrong with the rod size. I would go with what you think! I know in college they teach you to apply the solutions in a line at the point where you want the curl to start. They do this because they are tight on their products. If your not doing it already, take the solution all the way up to the end of the lash. But it is REALLY important that if you do this, your rod size is correct or the lashes will end up bent.
You can use cling film but I tend to get a brand that doesn't require it because it can end up sticking to the rods and is a nightmare to get off.
Don't worry about the glue, use as much as you need to to get the lashes stuck down. It wont affect the end result.
Good luck with your next one  xxx

I had the same problem at college b4 christmas I had mine done very excited as I had had them done b4. You couldn't tell I had had them done lol
back at college 2 morro so was looking for some tips as it will be me doing it on someone else lol

They do this because they are tight on their products. If your not doing it already, take the solution all the way up to the end of the lash.

This is not correct at all.Colleges teach their students not to go to the end of the lashes with the solution NOT because they are tight but because you will over process the lashes by applying products all the way to the tip of the lash.

But it is REALLY important that if you do this, your rod size is correct or the lashes will end up bent.

The reason that the lashes are bent when doing this is because they have been over processed, hence why colleges and the like teach students NOT to apply their perming solution all the way to the tips of the lashes.I have never read on any perming manufacturers instructions to apply the products all the way from root to tip, only ever to apply to where we want the curl to take and I seriously suggest therapists read their manufacturers instructions before attempting this or risk wrecking their clients lashes.
