Hello all after some advise client had nno on toes french and has developed a sore nail bed tender to touch so to further aid this problem she then pulled off the gel herself!!! and told me today about the problem complaining the nail is now thin i explained that she has damaged her nail further by pulling gel off she now tells me she gets white marks if she uses normal polish on nails she has been a reg client for nearly 1 yr now and has nno on fingernails with no problems what could this be??? as not a disease of nail bed i was taught when doing my manicure pedi course?? any ideas what this may be ?? thanks ccm;)

When did she pull it off? Was It sore soon after?
Did you get it on the skin alittle? I did have some gel overlays done on my toes once and they stung a bit later in the day... By that night I had to get them off it seemed that the ones that hurt wear on my skin. (tiny toe nails so no one to blame )

Could that have been it?

Then she damaged them more buy picking them off?

As for the white part I couldn't even guess....if your in doubt about it send her to the doc ! :)

Check its not left over gel first tho ;)

white marks on nails from 'normal' polish is likely a form of severe dehydration...

Many cheaper nail polishs use formaldehyde to help harden and stick the polish, this will often lead to white patchs on the nail.... Easy to tell if it is, a good dose of solar oil will almost instantly fix it..

many thanks for your reply the white mark was already on nail plate prior to nno gel . She pulled off the gel because she had tender nail so could this dehydrated nail cause pain under gel as if very dry could the nail have absorbed gel ... and caused pain ... dont know still but i do know that this client never uses base coat when applying polish herself and i did explain how she must do so .... thanks so much for your reply
regards ccm :D

hi thank u for your reply her nail bed became sore to touch prior to her ripping off the gel !!!! before telling me week 2 later !!!! its only on one nail so cant be a reaction to nno as all toes would be sore she has very bad circulation and has 4 chilblanes on toes ..... always cold feet not sure if this is a contributory factor..........??? tks ccm
