What exactly is odour out? How does it work? What system are you using it in?

how can i get it then??

Personally I don't think we should be adding anything to our monomer - are we aware of what that might do to it chemically?? No we aren't.

If odour is an issue for you look at ways of reducing it.

Only decant enough monomer for the hand you are working on, and only decant it when you need it. If monomer is left sitting uncovered in dappen dishes it will evaporate and that is what spreads the smell around.

Watch if you wipe your brush. Many techs wipe their briushes on their couch roll/paper towel and that allows the discarded monomer to spread and then vapourise (causing odour). Dampen a piece of lint free pad with dehydrator and have it sat to one side of your towel and wipe your brush there. The dehydrator will trap the odour and you can discard it into your bin when you've finished that client.

Use a metal bin with a lid and empty it at the end of each day. The metal traps the odour inside.

If you do the 3 things above you will drastically cut down on the amount of odour you make. This has to be better than disguising it by adding another substance to your monomer, which after all is going to be applied to a part of someone's body...... Lastly, odour isn't a bad thing - it alerts you to the fact you could be working more efficiently!

Hi you still haven't said where one can get this odor out. If your friend has come up with a good solution for her salon, does she buy this product or produce it herself? Seems to me, that, if she produces it herself she could make herself some money by selling it!

I, for one would be interested in trying it out. Can you tell us how to obtain it.

Doug Schoon warns against the use of products like this in monomer and CND definitely do not recommend its use with CND monomers.

You are tinkering with the chemical formulation and it DOES have an affect whether you are aware of it or not.

These drops are not new ... they have been around for some time now.

I know plenty of techs who work in salons who just manage the odour very well by using and practising good habits in the way they work.

  • Minimum wiping of their brush and then only on a lint free pad that has been dampened with ScrubFresh
  • Metal pedal bin for all waste
  • Dappen dish covered at all times when not in use .. no pumps for monomer.
  • Correct storage of products
It doesn't take much to manage odour very well. Wouldn't it be nice if hairdressers did the same with their stinky products like perm solutions and bleach??? Funny how no one comments about that isn't it?? The fact is hairdressers can't work without creating odour and we put up with it without a complaint!! We nail techs can minimise odour by using the good habits above and not messing around with chemical formulae that are not meant to be tampered with.
