hi all,
i have a HUGE problem+i need some help urgently please!!!!!!!!
one of the girls in my salon highlighted the top of a girls hair. (she had extensions in the back) she has come back in today complaining that the conditioner used when taking the highlighting cap off has pulled her extensions down her hair. she's saying its going to cost a fortune to get them re-done+she expects us to pay......i don't know the 1st thing about extensions so i haven't a clue here......she says all her bonds are now showing at the back+she has to pin her hair up......i had a quick look+her bonds are bright blue, yet she says they weren't that colour when she got them done!
i can't ask the girl who highlighted it because she's just gone on holiday for a week..........
help please.........am i going to have to phone my insurance company.....or is she pulling the wool?

Wy did she not have the highlights done at the salon where her extensions were done. Sounds a little suspicious to me!

i really don't know.......i suspect she's had a friend do them...although i don't know for sure

All abit strange really!! The bonds may have turned blue due to the dye / chemicals in the product used to highlight the hair. The bonds must have been pretty loose to start with if the reason is the conditioner, but how may i ask does she wash her own hair at home. Surely they would move also when she does wash it herself. Just say sorry offer her free products or a free haircut. This may lighten the blow. You learn from your errors always make sure you check what possible problems may occur before carrying out any treatments on hair that has extensions or pre coloured. Hope this helps alittle.

Sorry to tell you this hun but bonds for hair extensions are like a clear colour, it looks like a stick of glue that you put in a heat gun, this then melts and is used to bond to the hair, if you use any thing other than the correct conditioner it can and will break down the bonds, but when she had the extensions put in this will have been explained to her and she should have been given the correct shampoo and conditioner and special brush for extensions all in with the price, so she should have known not to let your hairdresser use the conditioner in your shop hth

she insisted the bonds were brown before.....i'm way out of my depth here! its our 1st complaint in 4 years but i'm still devastated......i might just tell her to argue it out with my insurance company....but alas a bad reputation travels fast!
thanks everyone for your help.xx

im not a hairdresser so i cant say for sure but no matter what colour her hair was to start with,i cant imagine they would of used blue bonds.as you would see them.can you not find out where she had them done and speak to the hairdresser that done them to maybe try and sort something out.sorry if im wrong as i said im not a hairdresser.thats just my opinion.good luck.i hope you sort it out.xxxxxxxxx

If her hair is any other colour than white blond yes it would look sort of brown, don't be too dismayed hun, where ever she had them put in should have explained all the after care and given her the correct products to care for the extensions, she should have known better than to get it dyed afterwards, were the extensions real hair or fibre ones ?

I don't think she will be able to claim from your insurance as she will have had all the advise when getting them put in so really it is down to her for not following the advise or down to the person that put them in for not giving her the advise in the first place, if that makes any sense

Hiya,
The bonds would prob have looked brown to her as they are clear (put them on brown hair = brown bonds..)
Then i expect she had highlights (peroxide = blue in colour)
It's fine to have highlights when wearing extensions - just making sure the chemicals don't go on the bonds.

The bonds would have prob been damaged by the (i'm guessing it was) peroxide, then conditioner slathered on (fab if you aren't wearing extensions)
If the shampoos and conditioners in your salon contain silica that wouldn't have helped matters. See prev post about Matrix shampoos & conditioners.

And it wouldn't have happened at home as she would have been told in her after care not to get conditioner or any product containing oils on the bonds to prevent slipping....

sorry for garbled post - am watching that size zero programme on Sky+

xxxxx

thanks for that.......i will speak to her today...she says its our fault,we should of known..but to me extensions are a specialist subject which we just don't do....personally i think its her fault! nevermind....perhaps we'll do her nails for free...that might pacify her!......thanx xx

Don't go offering her anything for free, shes complaining about her hair not her nails.
I would give the insurance a ring and explain the situation and see what they say but as everyone else says she was told how to look after her extensions not you.

hi there I do hair extensions ,and I have also put in foils with bleach on the top section only for highlight regrowth on clients who have extensions in, and the bonds stayed fine , I also cannot see the conditioner turning them blue after one application ,

only thing i can think of is maybe there could have been some tint left on the backwash or cap ect after another client
but even that seems unlikely as the hair would be blue too .

IF she was given info and an
aftercare leaflet on her hair extensions which she should been , she should know exactly the doos and donts of hair extentions , and it would be her own fault .

If she was NOT given any instructions or leaflet by the extensionist.
then it could be the other salons fault.

also she should have gone back to the original salon for her colour as she may now have broken her own guarantee, which again makes it her own fault.

some guarantees are instantly broken if the client so much as washes their own hair at home, let alone go to another salon .

dont worry too much , let us know how things go,
minky

hi deehair here ask the client for the salon/hairdresser who put them in so you can check to see if she as had them done professionally yes using conditioner near the bond can losen but you have to really scrub at it so they have to been lose to begin with dont panic yet there are so many people out there doing there own hair if not trained wouldnt no about after care goog look and let me know how you get on i think this client is pulling a fast one

I agree with deehair. check with the salon.

You need to take a picture of her extensions for your own file for the insurance company and for the stylist who did the highligts on her.

LOL i just noticed that this thead is over 4 months old.
