Hello,

I am new to this forum and just wanted some help really.

I qualified in Beauty Therapy NVQ L2 in February this year and I have been doing treatments ever since for clients but I have to say I dont have many waxing appointments really and have only been out to a about 5 treatments. However, I had an appointment last night for a leg, underarm and bikini wax. I was using a new wax which I hadn not tried before (a mecian honey wax). Anyway to cut a long story short, the wax when fully heated was of a lumpy consistency and when I applied it and tried to take it off with my strip, lots of waxy residue was left on my client and it hardly took any hair out! As my client was going on her holidays in the next few days I didnt want to disappoint and although I did tell her that some of the hairs were slightly too short and may not come out with wax, she wanted me to proceed. I have to say I have never had a problem with the wax that I use and usually dont use the 'honey like' wax but went home feeling like I was a total failure!

The other problem I had was that the wax was sticking to my client and even when I applied more wax over it to remove, it just would not budge and it was rather messy!

Can anyone help me or offer me some advice? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

It sounds like a problem with the wax rather than with you, I used salon system wax and had very simular problem but i used perron rigot wax and it was a dream to wax with, perhaps consider changing the brand of wax. x

Hi also it is a case of practice, waxing can be tricky, to get right and to get quick at.
Either do an extra course with Kim the wax queen on here, as she is brilliant, she will give you loads of tips and make you feel amazingly confident.
Or get friends and family to be wax models and practise loads. Then if you come up against these problems at least you can figure them out without having to worry about it being a paying client.
Good luck as being good at waxing can bring in lots of new customers.

I am no waxing expert and to be honest I rarely ever do it at work, but I have found this problem with wax when waxing at home when I used to use the paper strips as opposed to using the fabric ones. Maybe it was just something I was doing but this is what I personally found.

Thank you for your emails. I hope it was the wax as I was so worried I had done something wrong. Im going to buy another brand this week and have a bit of a practice with friends/family before I book another appointment with anymore clients.

You mentioned training with kim on the forum? How do I contact her?

Thanks.:smack:

Womens intimate waxing for me this coming Monday!.Ordered a new double wax heater today, leaning towards the berins wax but holding out until i've tried Kims Perron Rigot before i decide.

I too thought a double wax pot would be great but then was advised by several therapists to buy two separate ones like the 1000c would be better as you can control the wax easier and also the big metal spatulas won't fall off the top. I have heard the digital ones are great but a tad expensive still.

What a nightmare! You could try turning your wax up but make sure it isn't so hot that it burns. Or, if you can afford it, try a better quality wax. You don't have to go for the dearest, but you do generally get what you pay for in life.

Keep your chin up, it was out of your control. xx:hug:

Aw, you should lose confidence in the PRODUCT, not yourself in this instance x
