Hiya - apologies if this is not in the correct forum as was unsure where to ask.

I'm opening a beauty salon at the end of the month and was booked in for massage training next weekend for 2 full days as would like to add to my list of treatments. I got a phone call yesterday to say the guy who was doing my training had left the company and would i go to Hull. :irked: Problem is, my budget is getting stretched as it is and cant afford to travel to Hull and stay over for 2 nights.

Ive searched for a different company in the North East (im in sunderland) but cant find a one - just wondering if anyone on here knows of any???

Thanks for your help
Kelly

I hope you don't mind me asking, and please don't take this the wrong way, I'm simplycurious. Are these two day courses aimed at beauty therapists? As a massage therapist who has worked solely in the therapy/sports/health/corporate industry for the last 15 years - but never in the beauty / salon industry till now, I'm stunned that you can learn to massage in two days . I just wondered what sort of massage treatment you would offer. I've never worked in a beauty salon, except that I have recently been doing sports massage at a very local salon (at the request of the owners). As I said, please don't take it the wrong way.... I just wondered if this is the norm.

I don't know, i don't do massage myself, BUT i do know that some of Ann's course you need to already have some sort of massage quantification to do them... but... i think she also does them for beginners.

But like anything... there isn't much that you CANT do in 2 days now!!! Most things are now 1-5 days courses!!!!!!

Well all i know that is im a trained beauty therapist who has years of experience of massage within manicures, pedicures and facials and have my anatomy & phisiology and could probably do a full body massage if asked, but wanted to have a qualification before charging people for this service.

There are many 1,2,5 day courses available now in many things other than massage. The course i am looking for is the Swedish body massage as i can incorporate these techniques into other treatments i offer.

Well Anne is your girl...

She is unreal, the knowledge that lass has is mindboggoling... don't know how the hell she remembers to do all the treatments she does, she's down coven gardens at the min doing a honey massage course... i cant wait to try that one out!

You should book to have a treatment off her, she does a kick ass colon massage! :green:

Thanks for the replies.
Yes, Gemma, have just had a look and they do look like post-grad type courses - very useful ones too.

Kelly, I didn't intend to be critical and hope you didn't take it that way. I was genuinely interested to see what type of training is typical when offering massage in a salon (and aromatherapy come to that). Since working in the salon, I have had a few clients comment that they notice the difference and actually ask what the difference in training is, and although I know how I trained and how long it took, I have no idea what is typcial in the beauty industry.

Hiya,
I am back from Covent Garden all Honey'ed up! LOL!

Yes, I am aiming at the professional market, professional training for professionals.

I have emailed you to see if I can sort you out.
