Hello everyone
please can you help, I have a client who's husband has just undergone treatment for cancer and all his nails have fallen off. She asked me if there is anything I can do, my immediate thought was sculpting, but, I don't think it would work. I would appreciate any suggestions
Thanks
Lin

HI, If there is anything left you can try and sculpt but to be honest they prob wont last with his medication. I have a friend who has just been having chemo so I did some looking into this for her. I found this if it helps: Chemotherapy and Nail Care - Caring for Your Nails During Chemotherapy
It says to avoid acrylic as it can lead to infections which he doesn't need.

Hi Claire
thanks for the reply, I only use gel not acrylic but do you suppose this could lead to problems too?

Its not the product that will cause the problem it is if he was to get anything trapped under it that could lead to an infection and it will be the last thing he needs if his immunity is down the article does say to avoid any of these kind of things. hth. Claire x

Thanks Claire
I totally agree and deep down thought that myself, I just wanted another opinion as she has booked him in with me first thing tues am.

Hi Claire

Sorry, but gel IS acrylic - just a different type with different application method. I think you could have problems with either. I have several clients who have undergone chemo and none have been able to wear any type of enhancement without serious lifting problems. Some were long standing clients who never had problems before so I know it was down to their health or medication.

NSI sent an article out regarding this a while ago. I will search threw my files and have a look for it. If I remember rightly and I may be wrong(!) it said something along the lines that enhancements are not recommended for cancer patients because Dr's check the nail and nail bed and need to be able to see any changes as this gives valuable information regarding the client health. I Hope this helps and I will search for the article for you, I received it from NSInails.com the US site.
