Hi everyone, was wondering of anyone can help shed some light on a waxing dilemma I have please?

I'm using Prowax in Lavender just now but have noticed it's not sticking properly to the strips when I remove it but instead, sticks most firmly to the clients' skin!!!

Had a client this past weekend and I was most embarrassed to say the least when I couldn't ge tthe wax to stick to the strip enough to remove the hair!!

Has anyone else had any problems with this wax? Is my temperature too high/low??

Help please...

You will find this happens when the room is cold and the clients leg is cold - try warming the room more and the problem will stop.

Its a pain tho when it does happen.

Thanks a million for your response, that certainly would go a long way to explaining it! I'm struggling to get my room to a decent temperature with the cold weather at the moment!!

So is it a case that the wax is cooling too rapidly and therefore not getting much grip on the strip??

Will this be the case with all waxes or just cream wax please? If I switched to a honey wax would I get more favourable results then?

You could get yourself an under blanket for the couch (argos)which will warm them up a bit.
Do their warm bits first ie underarms ,bikini which will give their legs a bit of time to warm up
Also only work in small sections on the legs and put on and take off immediately dont try covering whole legs.Have your wax as hot as you can without it being uncomfortable for the client.Make sure to use a barrier oil or talc and most of all warn them that it may happen. If you havent had a problem before yes it is most likely to be the cold.
You would probably have similar problems with all waxes in different degrees its really just a way of adapting the way you work. You could try a more fluid wax i dont have problems with babyliss lavender which spreads very thinly.

hi what strips do you use i found sometimes when i used paper this happened to me at time also can be down to the temp as well like other have said also if you have too much wax on the strip like a big build up this can happen x

You already have some good advice. Just stay calm if this happens. Its really common around the knees. Just tell your client that the area you are waxing is cold. Rub your hand over the strip quite a few times to warm it up and you will be fine. xxx

If you can't get the temperature up in your room and are still having this problem then use cloth strips. Place on the wax and rub until you feel some warmth in the wax again. Leave this for a few seconds and then remove as usual. This has worked for me when I was mobile and visited a regular client whose husband had short arms and very deep pockets! Didn't like to pay too much for the electric. We always froze in there and this was the only thing that worked!

If your really struggling to get a bit of wax off pull it in the wrong direction. ie towards hair growth and this should help to get the really stubborn bit is wax back off if it is really bad. I had that problem too and the wax from my strip would sometime stick back onto the wax on the leg. Was not fun I tell you.

Hi
I too had this happen to me for the first time only last week but I was using a different make of wax to my normal one and thought it was the fault of the product!! Luckily it was someone i knew really well as I just could not remove all of the wax I was so embarressed.
Thank you for this insight its nice to know I am not alone!
Will turn the heat up in future!
Loo x

Thanks for all your kind words and advice, really appreciate it!

I've had this happen too and it is down to the client or room being cold. If your really stuck just apply in the wrong direction and it should lift off. Don't panick is the key. I remember when it happened to me first . . . .
