Hello Guys

Im new to the site and was after some advice pretty please

I currently use NSI nails (acrylics) and do this on a part time basis, however I my friend has to do my nails as I cant do one of my hands and she uses Bio Sculpture Gel. I find that the Bio lasts a lot longer than using the acrylic, so was wondering whether to transfer onto gels and do additional training on this.

Has anyone experience of NSI Gel and whether they think it's any good and how it compares to Bio Sculpture?

Thanks for the replies in advance x

If you are talking about NSI's standard gel then they will be very different as NSI is a buff off gel and bio is a soak off gel so you cannot really compare the two.

Hi Fiona

Thanks for that info, however I meant along the lines of durability, lifting etc. (Im fine with soaking off)

Thanks Kiki

Kiki-Actually, what NaturalNails meant was that NSI Balance gels are buff-off and Bio Sculpture Gels are soak-off. The end results will be different (i.e. one is a "hard" gel and one is a "soft" gel). That makes comparing the two very difficult, as they are technically different types of gels.

I would try applying the same Bio Sculpture gels on your other hand and see if you get the same results as your friend. I hate to say this, but perhaps your friend has better prep and application techniques which leads to less lifting? It might be user-related versus product-related. There is only one way to find out!

Hi, thanks for your reply I see what you mean now about soft and hard gels.

It could well be my application, as I can go 3 weeks on BioS without having to have them rebalanced as there is no lifting whereby my clients can go two weeks and they have started to lift, no more than I would expect, or should there be no lifting with NSI acrylics after two weeks??

If this is the case then I will give the NSI team a tinkle, however I wasnt sure if it was the product and I would be better using another system.

Im wanting to pack in my full time job and go at this full time so want to make sure my new clients will be happy.

Let me know what you think
:)

Ideally, you shouldn't have any lifting after two weeks. I would continue perfecting your prep and application - practice makes perfect! Good luck.

you shouldnt have lifting with ANY product within 2 weeks... NSI acrylic is great, ive had people come back 2 months with no lifting (just major regrowth). NSI gels are great too, their Balance Gel is a traditional (hard) gel and their Illusion Gel is a soak-off (soft) gel. If youre seeing lifting by the 2 week mark you should start looking at your prep and application becuase the problem will just transfer over if you switch systems! Ive been using NSI products for a few years now and dont have any complaints!! Let me know if you have any questions, I'll see if i can help!!:)

Hi there,
I am an acrylic geek, however, I have spent the last few months researching gels due to new clients. I am based in the UK and Egypt, and need a gel that is great within both heat and cool temp. I am happy to buy 2 different products if this is the case but ideally from one company. I looked into Calgel, but found that i needed to do a course etc etc.. I have been in this industry for many many years and if I could not get the info re application any other way then of course happy to do the course, but not happy to have to have to spend alot of money to be "trained" I then looked into other gels and NSI seems to suit my needs, as I can buy direct from internet etc. They seem to have New Body Gels for warmer climates as they state and Balance Gels. Having just read your reply to previous Geek froum, you mentioned Illusion gels were soak off... I have been on the NSI site and cannot see these at all, are these the same as New Body Gels?
Thank you for taking the time to read the above, and look forward to your reply.

Balance Gels are traditional gels and come in many different formulations (Builder and Body Builder are just two). Illusion is a soak-off system and is completely different from the Balance Gels. It is also my understanding that Illusion is not presently available in the UK, but should be soon. Hope this clears things up.

Ive always used nsi gel and i think its amazing, i tried using a different one and tested it on my mum and she even could tell herself that it wasnt as strong as the nsi gel,
apparently the gel is easier to do than acrylic but i think gel is harder than acrylic as it takes more time and also more perfection but in total the outcome of it is better i personally think,
also their customer service is usually really good and sends your order out to you the next day.

The only problem with the nsi gel is you cant soak it off you have to file it off but that means its stronger but i love it :D
Hope it helpss x

I bought my starter kit of Illusion & a few other colours too @ Olympia the other year.
I do find when I soak it off it comes away a bit gritty & needs a little help as opposed to Bio Sculpture & Gelish which come away a little easier & are more rubbery when they come off. Not sure if it is because that is how it is made !

I use NSI gels now mainly, did used to do mainly NSI acrylic but lost my confidence due to lifting issues but now realise it was my application technique which I have just about resolved. My gels hardly ever lift at all and my customers come back every 3 weeks rather than 2. NSI gels are great and I'm loving the new Body Builder gels the best. x

Do you use Balance colours too.
Do you just file off the colour every 3 weeks & apply Different colour?
