I'm going to start waxing treatment but confused about different brands!!
I need some advice about wax and the heater, which one to choose?? I need to know which warm and hot wax is better and of course the price is also important, I don't want something very expensive as well because I'm just starting and not sure if I'll have many clients...
About the heater, do you think I need a 1000cc heater or 500cc is enough?
I'll appreciate your help.

With wax, you get what you pay for. I use one of the most expensive waxes because I think it's the best...Perron Rigot waxes.

If you don't want to go high end at this stage, try a middle range but don't go for the cheapest as they are usually rubbish. If they weren't we would all go for the cheaper option.

Hive 1000cc Heaters are excellent. xxx

Take Kim's advice! :) x

Get a selection of waxes and try them for yourself. I also use Perron Rigot wax, but even within that range there are some that I don't get on with but Kim for example loves.

So invest a little money to buy a selection of products to see how they work for you, don't just take people's word for it. Also when looking at the prices of waxes, look at how far they go - my wax is a lot easier to spread a lot thinner. So while my per 100g price is higher, it is still working out at the same cost or cheaper then a cheaper wax because it lasts longer.

try to salon serve's own brand for warm wax, which is middle of road for price and its very easy to use. For hot wax try salon systems original hot brazillan wax, their other hot wax range, eg sentitive range is crap!! These are ok on price and are fine to use, alternatively its a case of trial and error with wax selection...

Good luck

I use PHD wax and love it, it goes on in a tube (a bit like roller wax) and is very hygenic and quick to use. You can get it from ellisons with trolley and spatula heads. Laura x

Thanks for your advice Kim. Can you name any of those middle range that you mentioned, if you have worked with? There are hundreds of them when I search!!

people say Berins is better than perron rigot, have you tried that?

about the heater I think I'm going with Hive, I found one in Beauty Express but not sure if it's Hive, could you plz take a look:

Many thanks.

I use a mixture tbh,I like HIVE hot wax, works great for me and isn't the most expensive.I like Clean and Easy's Hemp wax but hate their honey wax, sets way too quick and not a pleasure to use at all.

I love Bebeau cream wax too, this I use for my pot and spatula waxing.I have the Hive 1000cc pot,had it for nearly ten yrs with no glitches whatsoever and it can be used for hot, warm and paraffin wax treatments(if need be)

I dont rate the Hive roller waxing unit though,we got through 2 of these in my last salon, they cracked and leaked wax, read lots of similar stories.

Salon systems warm wax is fairly inexpensive and works well, never had any problems at all with it and used it all the time in my last salon,I liked Cetuem wax too and GIGI.HTH

Yes sure it was the hon-e wax in a carton, you can use it to top up cartridges for the Clean and Easy roller wax or use it in a pot.

You open the carton, place in microwave, melt for not too long, then transfer to cartridges or the pot.It is CRUCIAL you dont use straight after being in the microwave.Always think ahead,ie melt at the end of the day or when you haven't got anyone in for wax until the hot spots have gone.

Thanks I think I found it: Just Wax Hon E Wax Carton 500g - Ellisons
Is it right?

Sorry to ask many questions but have you worked with their hot wax as well?
Leyla suggested it to me.

Try satin smooth wax is lovely to use and if you buy the whole kit you get a double wax heeater from salons direct xxx

Yes I have tried Berins. The people that say Berins is better are the people that use Berins and the people that say Perron Rigot is better are the people that use Perron Rigot. If we didn't like the brands that we use, we'd go with another brand.:D

Trouble in that ALL brands sell themselves as being the best.....that's the power of advertising and PR. You really need to try them.

As Matt (Fozzyo) says, when buying a wax, compare the price per 100g or whatever. Some brands appear cheaper but you get much less for your money.

Although I've tried lots of waxes, I can't recommend a middle price wax as being better than another one as to me, nothing compares to Perron. Also, I'm not familiar with their prices. Why not check out some companies like Beauty Express who sell different brands and have a read up on them all and start with a cheap one and work your way up until you find one you're happy with.

Yes, that's the one. My favourite heater. I tried some digital ones but they weren't as good.

Many thanks.

I hope you find what you're looking for and once you get into waxing, you'll become obsessed as it's very rewarding for you and your client. xx

What is the difference between creme wax and a normal warm wax???
Is creme wax better?

Yes years ago so wouldn't like to recommend it now as things change(it was about 10 yrs ago approx),I now use Hive and I like it a lot,but I haven't tried all hot waxes so cant say one is better than the other, over the years I tended to stick(pardon the pun:D)with warm wax because that's what the salons I worked in used,I now have my own business and use both.

One of the differences with cream wax is that you can see where your application is,so if you're fairly new to waxing it can be quite handy. With a honey wax,it's fairly clear and therefore not so easy to see where you have applied it.A lot of cream waxes claim to be more gentle on the skin as well. The Bebeau cream wax is very nice and is by Wow Factor.
Some waxes are for more sensitive types of skin,it's trial and error, some you will love to use and some you will hate.Like I said I dislike the Clean and Easy honey wax yet love their Hemp wax.

I agree and there are some PR waxes that I would never use at all. Too much choice really.

I only use Euroblonde HOT WAX and Cristal Ocean STRIP WAX on a daily basis. xx

i agree with Kim

I also have the Hive 1000cc wax heater and it is perfect :) we had loads of them at college and never experienced a problem with any of them.

You can get the starter kits, I got mine from www.cd-hairbeautyproducts.co.uk for around £65 and you get pre wax, after wax, equipment cleaner, spatulas and wax strips. You can also buy the inner pots seperately which is great if you use two or more types of wax :)
