I have a client who is currently the first pic but wants to go "not so light on the ends". The Guy Tang pic is one of the pics she's sent me as inspiration so I'm just wondering how to go about this. I realise that I will need to balayage some pieces a bit higher up and probably get it pretty light to be able to tone to this colour. But how light will it need to be and what colour will I need to tone to. I think this is one of his metallic colours which I don't have access to, but she's also sent me another pic which isn't so, metallicy I guess, so I'm thinking maybe wella illumina 7/81. Is there a 7/89 or is that just colour touch? I've never used either to tone on hair lighter than a base 7.

Hey, 7/81 looks like a good alternative! and 7/89 is colour touch indeed!

As for how light, lift her to a 9 and tone xx

Why don't you just watch the actual Guy Tang tutorial where he explains step by step what to do? Find out the tones he's using then adapt it to Wella.
