'Never asking anyone's age' and 'I do it all the time' over rules the instructions on the tube and EU legislation clearly.

This came out in 2011 ? I have never herd of it and my insurance never stated it either that law changed thank you for telling me now i know!

Your telling me every hairdresser read the instructions on tubes of tints each tome they do hair even tho they do it every day no !!

I have a loreal colour specialist degree
And i never remember anything about being over 16.

So yes i now know u have to be over 16 to have your hair done you have made your point u can stop goin on now

Yes we do know all that but like I say again it was NOT on the scalp !!!!!!!!!
It's up to the individual hairdressor at the end if the day !

I'm sorry but do you mean your haven't checked your insurance policy since 2011 and the company hasn't told you about this?

Did you do your colour degree with wella? My advise is as a business owner you keep up to date with this sort of stuff as it will catch you out!

Emmalouise I think some people are going overboard here ,my Goodness ,Was always drummed into me never to do a perm under 16 ,but that's another story ha ha

Yes you are right it is up the hairdresser, that why is legislation not complisory law. You just aren't insured.

Excuse me I am insured !!!!!!

Well maybe you should go work for insurance company's u can go catch alot of salons out then ! Thanks and i have read through my insurance now it doesn't say anything about it i will talk to my rep in morning about it .

Do I have to say it agin?
Your insurance is void if you colour someone's hair under the age of 16.

You can do it if you so please, but if anything goes wrong ie reaction, breakage etc. you insurance will not cover you.

No thanks I'm a professional hairdresser , I follow professional guidelines, my job isn't to catch other salons out. I've also done two colour experts one before 2011 and the one after it was stated about this- if your going to start throwing qualifications around. The products I use everyday have this on it and I keep upto date with industry news.

Nope but it will say that you must follow manufacturer instructions. It clearly says "not to be used on persons under 16" in loreal instructions

Omg just stop commenting

Nothing else you need to say now

Omg !!! Right we get the drift !!! We will sleep on it goodnight !!zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Boring me now

Wow! You have just made your insurance null and void. As the mother of an 11 year old I would never touch her hair with bleach- children are beautiful they don't need bleached purple tips :(
If I were you I would look into investing in hair chalk for young clients or hair mascaras (think they are still around). It allows them the fun but without damage to her hair or you being sued :)

Yes they are still around nearly me! :) I had a girl ages 10 come into my salon on Saturday to have her hair curled ready for her party. Her mum had applied the hair chalks to her hair prior and it just washes out but looked really pretty on the ends xx

I had someone ask me to give her 9y old some caramel highlights a while ago. I didn't think it was professional to colour someone so young but wanted to also check the legal side of things as I'd heard about some changes coming in or already in place about under 16's.
In the end all I needed to do was check my insurance which clearly stated 'product instructions must be followed' then I read the colour instruction leaflet ' not to be used on children'
That gave me the answer.

Why would anyone want to bleach, colour, tint, highlight a child's hair? Whether it's a full head, tips or slices of colour.

Not only (as already stated) your insurance is invalid on colouring services on under 16's, but the fact of they grow up too fast as it is, let them keep their innocence.
