Hello. Im not qualified but training as a level 2 beauty therapist and iv been assessed on skin care (facials/ skin type) from what you have told me they sound like Millia (white spot) you really shouldnt pop them your self you should ask a level 3 beauty therapy to remove them. The reason really for getting them is you may have dry skin in that area. You should cleanse, tone and moisturise am and pm really as part of you skin care routing.

Hi Jam.

It seems the products that you are using are not suiting your skin. The products are drying out your skin and stimulating the glands to over produce your oil. I would recommend using a professional product that helps to hydrate your skin. Any product that makes your skin tight is not good or products that has alcohol in as that strips your skin. Treatments that would help to improve your skin would be microdermabrasion or electrolysis.

Your hormones are all over the place as well as lack of sleep and disrupted eating and you will probably have poor skin for quite a while im afraid.
Stop using dove and the clean and clear straight away much too harsh and stop picking and touching your skin you are encouraging sebum production and infection.
There are many ranges on here you can try and as it is a professional forum in the skincare section you should only get professional recommendations.
Do a search and see what is recommended and treat yourself to a facial it will do you the power of good to have some time to yourself.
It needn't be too expensive many places will have offers on at the mo as november is a quiet month and also look up your local mobile therapists.
Also last thing on your mind but do have a look at your diet are you getting your 5 a day.

thanks for all your suggestions i'll get down to the beauticians x

A good beauty therapist will be able to extract them for you. Usually it caused by skin not being able to exfoliate it self. It can be too dry or too oily skin, hormonal imbalance, poor diet, stress.

Oh my God, clean and clear blackhead cleanser! Get rid of this stuff, it is making your skin worse. Go to a salon and get some proper cleanser and a moisturizer. It will improve.

i always used it and it took all the oil off my face (maybe thats the problem ) my skin does seem a little dry , but only in patches .

Difficult to say without actually seeing your skin for myself, but I very much doubt that these are milia which are difficult to squeeze and then just pop out. Also the neck and jaw line are not a common area for milia to occur.

You are 6wks post having a baby (congratulations by the way) and your hormones will definitely still be all over the place. Be kind to yourself and give yourself a chance . I agree with ditching the Dove soap and Clean & Clear. I don't care what the adverts say, soap is soap (Dove or not) and I would not recommend it for cleansing the face on a daily basis.

This will be a fantastic opportunity for some serious 'you time' to visit a beauty therapist for a facial and skin care advice. Allow yourself to be pampered. You don't have to spend lots of money on expensive skin care products as your therapist should be able to offer you samples to try before you buy. Good skin care really is worth it.

i suggest you seek a therapist who is trained with dermalogica and ask for a face mapping skin analysis session, (these are usually free!)
the therapist will take into account hormonal changes etc and any other issues that may be affecting your skin and will then be able to prescribe products from the dermalogica skin care system to improve the situation. i would do it for you myself but im nearly 2 hrs away! there will be someone in your area tho.
hope that helps :green:

Whilst I acknowledge that you are trying to be helpful with this advice, I am sure it would be confusing and overwhelming for jamjams if everybody started recommending their preferred professional facial products.

Dermalogica is not the only skin care range which could help jamjams as there are many professional and effective brands to help with this problem where the therapists will offer free skin analysis and excellent advice.

Please don't think I was having a go at you, but you did say that it 'sounded like milia' and I said that 'I doubted this was the case and my opinion was based on the information given which I backed up with reasons after thinking outside the box, so to speak'.

I feel it is necessary to point this out because this is a professional forum viewed by the public and whilst it is fantastic that people can freely contribute information and also learn, potentially incorrect information can be misleading.

It is difficult to really know what skin problems jamjams is having without viewing her skin, however, given that she asked for advice, having just had a baby and the fact that these spots appear on her neck and jaw line and that the seem to easily pop out, I think it is unlikely they are milia.

You, like me are enthusiastic in the early training stages. I started offering advice on waxing until a very experienced geek pointed out that 'whilst my notes may be correct, in reality this was not always the case'. The learning never stops and I love it.

I feel that i didnt give u incorrect information. Milla are white spots - due to dryness of skin. whats wrong there.

Pregancy can do alsorts to people skin. I have Milla and mine do pop easier - even though i no longer do it. but didnt actually say they were.

Again i mentioned she sould see a level 3 and change her skin care routine which is what everyone has said. Yes im still training but i'm actually working on real people at college with skin care routines not using notes.

PS. I FEEL THAT THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF JUDGEMENT ON THE FORUM THE LAST FEW DAYS. AND PEOPLE ARE QUICK TO JUDGE IF THEY DONT USE THE PRODUCTS OR ROUTINE THEY DO.

Judgement or varied opinions. There can be discussion and opinion and we are not all going to agree what there shouldn't be is shouting.

I am a level 3 qualified therapist! I also work on real people and actually frequently refer to my notes, text books and professional forums and magazines to constantly update my knowledge! Alongside this, I take into account experience and common sense.

Milia is not necessarily caused by 'dry skin' and there are other reasons for 'milia and other white spots'.

You are being very defensive which is a shame because you can learn so much here. I acknowledged your enthusiasm and willingness to share but you are likely to alienate other geeks if you become defensive and argumentative. By all means, offer suggestions and opinions, but then be prepared to have these coments constructively challenged with other opinions and reasons for opinions. I gave reasons. I did not just quote out of a text book, from my notes or what my tutor taught me.

A real person is asking a real question in this thread. Hopefully she will find help and advice which will remedy her current skin dilemma.

Best wishes jamjams. x

Wow! I've just joined this salon geek, people are sooo touchy!
Milia do not just squeeze out, they do not develop in a pore and so will need to be professionally removed as Mrs Clooney stated correctly (or you run the risk of scarring if you try yourself)
Milia can develop from using a product that is too rich for your skin type, people often have this type of milia around their eyes where the product they are using is too heavy for that area.
They feel like a little 'seed' under the skin like a grain of rice, and they do not just pop out.

Jawline problems are frequently (NOT always) hormonal and can take a while to settle down. All the best Jamjams on you new little addition. Definitely see a skin therapist who can advise you of the best skincare routine for you.
In the mean time, also stay clear of heavy moisturisers which are tempting to use to counteract the dryness, however this may make the problem worse.

woops wish id not asked now ,didnt mean to cause a row .everyones advice was very helpful.

i have a new skin care routine and it seems to be clearing up thanks xx:confused:
