I went ice-skating tody and fell over, managing to stop my bottom/back slamming onto the ground by supporting all my weight with the palms of both hands. No problem immediately afterwards, but now my left wrist and back of hand is very painful and a bit swollen. I have been putting frozen pea compresses on it for 20 mins at a time and have taken an ibruprofen. . . does anyone else have any advice for me?
Goodness knows what it'll be like in the morning but don't think I'll be doing much work at the salon if it feels like this!

Go see the doctor tomorrow and get it documented in case it becomes a longer problem - it could be a sprain or even a minor fracture. Definately seek medical advice on this one - this is your hand! Your livelihood!

Until then, frozen peas and ibuprofen are a good start. Let us know how it goes!

(levels of pain are hard to go by - I broke a bone in my right foot, and a year later tore a ligament in the left foot. To be honest, the ligament tear hurt more! 4 years later, both old injuries still bother me, so get it seen to fast!)

Go and get it X-rayed as soon as possible.

Thanks guys for your kind advice. It was really hurting last night when I posted but I couldn't believe the difference this morning, and it's continued improving today. I haven't even needed painkillers and the swellings gone down.
But if it becomes painful again I shall definitely see my GP, I have to go there this thurs anyway.
