Hi

Ive never done a party before but advertised on my website , I got a booking for 2 weeks time, a hen party.
now i am on my own and at the moment they have booked for 2 make-ups, 2 manicures, 1 pedicure, 3 brow waxs, 1 lash/brow tint., plus she said there are 2 more girls that will be wanting something done.
i have to be there by 1730 and by 2100-2130 they want to be going out, do you think this is realistic?

anyway i said that they all get 25% discount of their treatments, is this too much discount for the amount of work i will be doing or do you think that i should only offer the discount to the girl organising the party, and maybe a smaller dicount for everyone else.

i already told her that it is 25% discount for everyone, is it too late to tell her something different. its not booked till the 21st.

i charge £5 for a brow wax so with 25% discount that would be £3.75, do you think its worthwhile doing it if everybody is only paying that.

hope i havnt waffled on

thanks

tina

If I were you I would try and find out exactly what they are having so you know what to expect then you can try and work out times with allowances inbetween for changeover and delays. 25% is a lot I think. Also you really need to know whether the two extras fancy coming or not so you can allow for them.

I recently did a load of manicures and pedicures and initially offered 10% off. I offered to get a friend involved so we would be there a shorter amount of time as one of the girls was getting married the next day so I had told my friend she would be getting X amount which was half of our total earning. Well when I got there one of the girls couldn't get the afternoon of work and wasn't attending therefore would have meant we were going out to earn less money plus I would still be giving 10% discount but I had to tell her I could no longer give the discount. She was fine about it, but I felt she could have easily let me know this the day before. To be honest if I was on my own I would have given the 10% discount but I had promised my friend a certain amount and I certainly did n't want to take less.

I did another on my own which was 6 half treatments. The host was completely unhelpful and it was up to me to stick a rocket up their backsides and motivate them to do anything so what I've learned is next time I will get a list of names and exactly what they want the day before at least so it is less of a headache when I arrive. The thing I've found when you don't have exact number/treatments is that it all gets a bit messy.

Hi there

First of all I would check what your timings are on each individual treatment that has already been booked. By my timings, 2 full manis, pedi, 2 make ups plus the other bits and bobs comes to longer than 3.5 to 4 hours and if you have 2 other girls to book in then this has to be taken into account too. Can you team up with another therapist to help?

I think the discount you offered is very generous - but IMO it would be unreasonable to go back on this as you have already confirmed the price and taken the booking.

Maybe for future appointments work out a small discount or just an incentive for the party host so that you don't give away too much.

Hi Hun,
Wow 25% is a massive discount & now you have said that you cant really go back on it.
I would ask the organiser to let you know who is having excatly what done, as if the 2 other girls want a tint, this cant be done without a patch test & ask for a 50% deposit from everyone,
Or I would be incline to say "beings as I am giving you all a 25% discount I will need full payment to secure your appointments no later than 24hrs prior" - this will make it so much easier for you on the night, fiddling around giving everyone change etc
Write out individual reciepts to give each person (as I have read a thread on here before where someone had problems regarding payment at a party)
When are you going to do the patch test on the girl(s)?

Could you maybe do mini manis & pedis to cut your timing down?

I would soak the girls feet in the foot spa whilst doing the manicures, then go straight over to the pedi, then the tinting, waxing & lastly make ups.
As with the manis & pedi done first they have longer to let their nails dry.
