Hiya,

I am thinking about enrolling on a Holistic Therapies course this sept., because i already have L2 Beauty Therapy I would start on L3, just wondered if anyone knows if you are expected to know Body Massage? Because i know its covered in L2 holistics, but not in L2 BT unless youre going on to L3...?

Also just wondered for those of you who have done it, what did you think of it? Did you enjoy it? Is there as much theory as is with BT?

Thanks x x

I did my holistic therapies as part of my HND in beauty & holistic therapies, but a friend of mine has done the reverese, having just completed the holistic course & is enrolled on an NVQ level 2 in beauty for this September.

They had to do Swedish massage as part of the Holistic Course and so doesn't have to do it as part of the beauty course. They had mixed feelings about the course, but that was mostly regarding some of the people they had let onto the course rather than the content itself. Hope that helps!

Hiya Lindsay & welcome to the site:)

Are you enrolling in the city college or taking a private course>?

I've just completed Level 3 Holistic massage therapy (Level 3 BT) If it's college(CCN) as you're in Norfolk the level 3 Holistic Therapies course is available in 2 routes to take.

You can choose either route....one route for the full course which includes Nail enhancements and Electroylisis(hair removal) and the other route is the Holistics which includes Indian head massage, because you already have L Beauty Therapy qualification ,your straight into qualifying for that anyway...so go for it .You don't need to know body massage as your taught all this anyway hun as well as Aromatherapy massage.

I enjoyed the Holistics very much ,i like all that complimentary therapies and alternative health remedies. There isn't much theory apart from knowing your Anatomy and physiology of all body muscles, lymph, blood, and related body function systems i.e digestive system and so on..it's easy as you have already done in Level 2.

Level 3 Holistic route i took covers:
Body massage(Swedish)
Aromatherapy body massage
Electrical body and facial treatments
Indian head massage
Related management units(same as level)
Heat\wet room treatments(sauna,steam,spa)
U.V tanning
Fashion\photographic make-up
cosmetic camouflage make-up
and additional units such as body wraps and intimate waxing if you want.

full route covers all of above but with Electroylisis and advanced nail enhancements

hope this helps.

I had a look at Lowestoft college courses and they look good,i wish i enrolled at lowestoft as there is a couple of things like Reflexology and Nutrition i would have liked to have done. never mind more training for me:).
Are you doing the Level 2 certificate or the level 3 diploma>? because if you choose the diploma..that's an excellent course to have in my honest opinion

The course lindsay is more practical work and just some homework research and input, you have different written work in text \module books you get which is relatively easy to follow and not much difference from the level 2 BT and final exams(VTCT) for each module but to cut along story short...more practical than theory...hope this answers your query lindsay

Yer im doing the Level 3 Diploma! Thanks for your help, im looking forward to it now :) x

what do you mean by this?

In order to boost numbers they had let in a lot of people that weren't even interested in doing it & didn't hand in any work, spending most of the time gossiping about other members of the group. They had numerous issues & a few of them were thrown off the group - glad my college experience wasn't like this!
